Description Mako peered down onto the silent warehouse. Her eyes, designed to allow her to see at the dark depths of the ocean served her equally well on land. She studied the bodies scattered around the various crates and pieces of freight handling equipment littering the warehouse floor. Seeing no immediate threat or booby traps, she opened the skylight all the way. Taking out her cell phone, she snapped a couple of photographs of the scene. Mako took a pair of deep breaths, filling her lungs with air. Her body was modified to use oxygen more efficiently than a regular human, giving her about ten minutes before she had to breath again. Studying the layout of the warehouse, she leapt through the open skylight into the darkness below.

Mako jumped down, landing on a stack of crates. Without breaking her momentum, she went into a forward somersault that took her to the concrete floor of the warehouse. Mako snapped more pictures, documenting the scene. She noticed several dead rats and birds laying on the floor beside the human corpses. The animal remains were also stained bright orange. This detail confirmed Mako’s initial suspicion. These workers had been poisoned by exposure to a very powerful, and very toxic high explosive. The explosive, known as Illudium Q-36 was made from a rare extraterrestrial mineral. Most of what was available on earth came from Martian meteorites. Survey’s of the red planet had revealed the element was much more common there. Once refined, it could be fashioned into the more powerful non-nuclear explosive known to man. The explosive had unique blast properties that allowed it’s force to be directed and modulated unlike any other known explosive. Another property of Illudium Q-36 was its toxicity. Exposure to the refined explosive was very dangerous. One of the unique effects of the element was to turn the tissues of its victims a bright orange. Taking a few more pictures, the heroine considered what to do next. These men appeared to have been dead for a couple of days at most. The unstable nature of Illudium Q-36 meant whatever had been in the warehouse had most likely decayed away. Still, she couldn’t take a chance in exposing the public to the contaminated warehouse. Mindful of the need to breath soon, she considered her options. If her broke the doors open, she risked spreading any remaining Illudium over a large area.

Mako turned, and sprinted towards one of the windows in the walls. Leaping and tucking herself into a tight ball, she broke through the glass ten feet off the floor and landed in the parking lot surface. Still holding her breath, she began to sprint towards the water. A quick swim would wash any residue off her skin. As she ran towards the water, she emailed the pictures to her contact on the Angel Falls police force. After seeing the files successfully download, she dialed 911. The emergency call from her government phone would trigger a large response from local law enforcement. Reaching the pier, she set the phone down, so the GPS function would report her location. Her lungs beginning to burn, she flexed her knees, diving into the water as she removed her dock worker clothing. Her skin darkened to its blue shade and her eyes went black as she submerged herself into the water. The gill slits on her neck opened as she breathed in water. Swimming quickly, she began a lap of the harbor to rinse any explosive residue off her body.

Well, whoever owns the warehouse will get the surprise of his/her life when a gov't Hazmat Team shows up and if the contamination cannot be contained, that building will be razed to the ground and possibly below. So much for secrecy.
