By now, you had gotten used to the eerie growls that came from the lower levels of the castle. It had only been a month since you had been abducted from your hometown, but it felt as though forever had passed. Right now, however, you were padding around the upper level of the castle in which you resided. You stooped down at the waist, picking up some stray bits of rubble that you presumed had fallen from the ceiling at some point.

“Cleaning again, Ms. (Name)?”

You heard the rather deep voice behind you, and you gave a deep sigh.

“Oh, Vincent, it’s just you. I thought it was his time once again…”

You turned around to look at the man. He was someone you had come to know rather well over the past month you had resided here. He, unlike the other creatures who dwelled here, actually seemed to care about your feelings; even if only a tiny bit.

“Actually, I come bearing a message from Dio.”

Your hope that he wouldn’t be brought up in conversation immediately went away after hearing his name.

“What is it this time, Vincent? Is it time for him to feed with my blood again?”

Over the course of the past month, Dio had created a scheduled time and day that he took your blood. You had found out from Vincent that your blood was the reason he had kidnapped you in the first place; your blood was ‘purer’ than the other people’s in your village somehow. You didn’t quite understand it, but as long as he didn’t kill you, you didn’t really care what he did anymore.

You watched as the raven-haired butler fixed the towel he had draped over his left arm, and then bowed at the waist.

“Master Dio requests that you dine with him in the Great Hall tonight.”

This came as a surprise to you for a number of reasons. First, Dio didn’t have much to do with you since he brought you here, aside from the occasional drinking of your blood. Second, you didn’t think he would want anything to do with you since he had so many other women at his side, (unwillingly or not). You leaned your shoulder against the cracked wall, a heavy sigh leaving your lips.

“Me? Vincent, this is ridiculous. I’m a woman of virtue and moral. Does he really think he can appeal to me after kidnapping me, and after having so many other women at his side?”

Vincent gave a slow, back-and-forth shake of his head.

“I’m well aware of your morals, Ms. (Name). However, I believe this could be beneficial for Master Dio. If you’re so concerned with how many other women he’s had, think about what finding one, special one could do.”

You hadn’t thought of it that way before; though you doubted you would ever fall for him after he kidnapped you and forced you to give him your blood. However, you decided that you would appease Dio. Quite frankly, you wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of whatever wrath that man could possibly bring.

“Alright then, Vincent. Tell him I’ll be down. When does he wish me to be in the Great Hall?”

“He expects you to be there no later than ten this evening. He also wishes for you to wear this.”

You saw the hand that had previously been behind his back move in front of him, a pale, pink dress contained within his grasp. You looked it over; it looked as though it was brand new. You wondered where and when Dio had gotten it, but that didn’t really matter.

After taking it from Vincent, he bowed at his waist once more.

“I bid your farewell, Ms. (Name).”

When the bell tower in the nearby town finally decided to toll ten, you were already dressed in the attire Dio wished for you to attend the dinner in. The dress came down a little bit past your knees; not too revealing, yet shorter than you’d like it to be. Vincent, who had come to check up on you about two hours beforehand, had generously fixed your hair into a rather elegant-looking bun; better than what you yourself could have done alone.

You made your way out of your room and down the darkened hallways, the dim glow of torches that lined the walls being your only guide as you walked. You did wonder what tonight’s dinner would be; would it be something edible for a normal human? Could Dio even eat normal human food since he himself was a vampire? However, you knew that you would soon find out.

Your shoes tapped lightly against the wooden floor as you made your way down the stairs, only to find Vincent waiting at the bottom.

“M’lady, allow me to escort you into the Great Hall.”

He bowed at his waist, and you followed his lead through the darkened main area. You approached a large door, and Vincent pushed it open to allow you entrance inside. Once you had made your way through the door, you noticed a single table within, several candles lit and placed perfectly in the center. This was no doubt the work of Vincent; he was a perfectionist when it came to his work after all.

On the far end of the table sat the man that you would be dining with this evening; Dio Brando. You saw his amber eyes gaze in your direction, visible even in the dim light of the candles.

“Master, may I present Ms. (Name), just as you requested.”

You felt your heart rise into your chest as you followed Vincent to the table. He pulled out a chair on the opposite end of Dio, and you slowly took your seat. Once you managed to sit down, you finally had a better view of the man who has been keeping you a prisoner in his abode. Instead of his usual attire, he was dressed rather elegantly; you weren’t aware he even had an outfit such as this one.

He wore a tailored suit, a small bow resting right under his chin. It seemed to be of much better quality than ones you had seen before; you wondered where he had gotten it. But, once again, your mind was heading off in unnecessary directions.

On the table before you were some of the finest cuts of meat anyone could afford, alongside several different vegetables. In the center of the table, in-between the candles, stood several bottles of wine; once more, they were brands that only the rich could possibly hope to obtain.

Vincent, after obtaining a glance from his master, took the liberty to serve the two of you a bit of everything present at the table.

“(Name), feel free to eat as much as you like. You, and you alone, are the only one who gets this treatment from me.”

Your (color) eyes glanced up at the blonde-haired man, seeing his hand gesture to the items in front of both you and himself.

“Ms. (Name), what wine would you like to try tonight?”

Knowing that Vincent was going to remain close-by throughout this dinner eased your nerves slightly, and you forced yourself to take a deep breath before looking up at him.

“Um… the Red Bordeaux would be fine. Thank you, Vincent.”

With a nod of his head, the butler removed the cork from one of the bottles and filled your glass around three quarters of the way full.

“You chose the wine that I personally prefer as well, (Name.) Very wonderful choice indeed.”

Feeling the need to answer him, much due to the fact that you didn’t wish to anger him, you nodded your head slowly.

“I’ve always wanted to try it. Usually only royalty are able to drink it, so therefore I’ve never had any…”

“Well, tonight, partake in as much as you wish.”

After Vincent had made sure everything was perfect, you watched him walk over to a piano in the corner of the dim room. He flipped the tails of his coat away from his body before taking a seat and lifting the cover away from the keys. As he began to play, you realized that Vincent had much more to him than met the eye; perfectionist, pianist, hair stylist, chef, and he was the only friend you had right now.

You picked up your fork, slowly beginning to partake in the meal that you had been invited to. You had to admit, everything was perfectly cooked, and you figured Vincent was the one who had done the cooking as well.

“I hope that my cooking skill suits your fancy.”

Your previous assumption that Vincent had prepared this meal was torn asunder when you heard Dio speak once more. He had done all of this? You never figured that Dio would take any sort of time out of his day to do anything remotely related to you, yet this entire evening had proven that theory to be incorrect.

“Yes, your cooking skills are lovely, Dio.”

This sentence seemed to please him, judging from the slight smile that appeared on his lips. You watched as he took a drink of his wine, and then examined the glass he held in his hand.

“Dio…”

The sound of his name caught his attention, and he turned his gaze away from the glass and towards you. You felt slightly intimidated by him, but you knew that you had to ask him this question.

“Why are you doing all of this for me? You have all these other women around you, yet you choose me for, well, almost everything. You chose my blood, you chose me to have dinner with you… why?”

This question seemed to take him aback for a moment. He then pondered it in his head; why was he doing this? He wasn’t even entirely certain himself.

“Perhaps it’s because I wish to make your stay here a bit more than a ‘hostage’ situation, hmm? You’ve been here for a month and two days now, and you haven’t once tried to flee from me. You’ve done everything I’ve asked without question. So, it’s only right of me to return the favor.”

You cocked your eyebrow, taking a sip of your wine.

“You’re a vampire. You can have anything you want, Dio. I highly doubt you’re doing this just out of the goodness of your heart.”

“I can understand that, (Name). However, if those words don’t prove that to you, perhaps this will. You may leave this castle whenever you like.”

Those words made your heart stop in your chest. Leave…? Dio was giving you permission to leave? You rose to your feet, and quickly headed out of the Great Hall and upstairs into your room.

After you had made your way out of the room, Vincent’s finger played the final chord of his song, and he gave a quiet sigh.

“Master, I do believe you’re doing the right thing, you know.”

Dio stared at the crimson red wine in the bottom of his glass, and then put it down upon the tabletop.

“The right thing? Since when have I ever know ‘the right thing’, Vincent?”
