Description
well,it's the holiday time of year again"FAR off, most secret, and inviolate Rose,
Enfold me in my hour of hours;.../
dwell beyond the stir
And tumult of defeated dreams; and deep
Among pale eyelids, heavy with the sleep
Men have named beauty. Thy great leaves enfold
The ancient beards, the helms of ruby and gold"
[The Secret Rose..W.B.Yeats]

Great quote. I love rosehips, this reminds me a little of William Morris wallpaper, the use of the light and the dark green balances well.

The V&A is full of inspiration - some of the Middle East galleries are marvellous, as are the little shiny things in the jewellery vault

I have to save a fair bit first[I don't think I could go for just a short trip
?]..but thankyou,I shall indeed note you..I have a dear friend in Scotland who wants to take me on a haunted castle tour,
]...but other than that,I want to do the galleries, museums and architectural and historic sites the most...the UK is just so full of history,I envy you being surrounded by it...must be such a source of inspiration[although we do have some cool things here, and the landscape is beautiful...history...not much
?]

Are you down in Oz? ( That is my impression? but I may be wrong ) I have visited , it is a beautiful and varied place
Edinburgh is apparently the best place to live in Britain (2007) so I am lucky that way I am not sure if they factored the weather into that one...

You're very welcome! I like the sort of unfinished look, really. I think it looks more organic. It's truly beautiful!
I will have to look for those paints. Do they cost much? I want to get back into watercoloring (someday).

thankyouyou are most kind
.....I don't think Blockz are teh cheapest out there
?(...and I'm not so impressed with their new standard colours)...but the earth pigments are outstanding
...the Venetian red comes from the same pit that Titian used...and the pozzoulo earth[just divine!...it changes colour when you wash it over other colours...it's a beautiful, velvety purple-maroon-brown]...I am lucky to come from an arty family...and I must say, they are worth the money,as I am still using some my mother bought years ago...they last!!....and they are very coarsely ground...so they granulate on rough paper and give you that nice 'textured'effect
I would love to see your watercolour efforts...I'm on holidays atm,and trying to make time to do some artwork
....a day out painting with watercolours is wonderful!

They sound lovely! And I don't mind paying up when it comes to art. My job makes very little (I tutor kids) but I spend most of my money on art lessons.
The Venetian red is from he same pit Titian used? That is so amazing!
