Started and finished this last year but didn't get a chance to post it till now! I guess it's rather fitting, what with the theme of new beginnings and change with Zuko's character. The compositions and color manipulation are superb in both of this one and "waterbender". Mastery of color control? certainly!
now textures, they add up so much on overall piece! congrats!
edit: if i may ask, is it paint tool sai or photoshop? i still can't determinate which one gives better control of spontaneity, which is general problem in digital art

I used Photoshop. I never gave Sai a proper go before, so I can't really say. The years I've spent getting used to PS as a tool has given me a level of spontaneity I'm happy with though.

I love the colors of the flames!! It's just like the colors from that episode with the sun warriors when Aang and Zuko learned about the real fire bending! It looks so lively and his pose is amazing, he seems so controlled and calm like third season Zuko. It's wonderful, thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you!! And yes, that episode was one of the things I had in mind when I was making this. I also really wanted to show what a dramatic character he is (as drama queen and tragic figure haha).
