Sorry for Kanji's rare leg - I haven't seen it on the ref and drawn it as it is, and also sorry for poses and proportion. I'm not that experienced in drawing horses - the only time I drew a horse was when I drew Ferrari emblem
Je-je! I wanted to draw a real wood - but I failed 'cause it's supposed to be summer - not Spring... I actually disappointed abut how it turned out. 
The firs mistake was when I've chosen not that epic paper format for my epic idea! I just hope you like it!

You're lucky! Animals don't talk the language you can understand and don't bother too much about how they look like on photos. I just wonder if my cat understands that it's him while looking at a photo of his!

I just make it in a more realistic way than it's usually made in anime! I just have no idea how to make that cell-shading thing...

If you're doing it traditional, you usually use special foil. But digital art...maybe with PS? Patterns? should actually work...if you have the right patterns

You did just fine. Keep working at it. Eventually, drawing horses will become second-nature, and you'll not only be able to capture emotion well (which you did in this piece) but render more accurately as well. Good job! Keep going! Look forward to seeing more from you.

It takes a lot of work; I'm not so good with backgrounds, either; I tend to dither a lot with it, because I do stuff like getting the scale of the background relative to the foreground completely wrong, etc. Believe me, I share your feelings. All that either of us can do is keep working at it. We'll get there!
