I like the light colors you used in this painting.

Do you paint from a picture reference or Plein Aire?

I am very happy you liked the way I did it. Ahh,to be honest,Most of the time I pain from my imaginations   .I think about something I would love to paint and then go for it.The watercolor on the way tells me in which direction I should go

That's great that you paint from your imagination!

Oh, I wish I could do that....well, I do change some of the

composition when I paint from a photo.  Sometimes the picture

has too much trees or whatever in a scenic composition.

So I try to simplify.

You can. Just think about any landscape you like and then put some interesting elements to that which matches the surroundings. You are ready to paint. Yes,yes, simplification and rearrangement of shapes and tones are very essential while painting from a reference photo. To me a painting is much more than just a mere photo of a landscape.

I know what you mean about a painting is much more than just

a mere photo of a subject.  I think art is from the heart.  I always

seem to paint without a plan.  I never had formal art lessons, but only

from my step dad while I lived in Bangladesh in my youth.  He saw that

I had a innate ability to draw and paint whatever I wanted.

Absolutely. That famous saying ."You can't choose to be an artist rather art chooses you"

That's a great thought!  That makes sense....art chooses you...

When I see something, a face or a scenery, I think, "Oh, I must paint this!"

Do you know I also work with colored pencils?  Another medium I use.

I think in my gallery here, I have a few works of that medium.

I was in this forum 4 years ago.  As time progressed, I changed into

several accounts because I like change and start afresh with a new account.
