Description I sure as hell hope I spelt terracotta right. Anyway its way overgrown in this picture, I should go out in the garden and take another photo. Except I'm lazy, did I mention I'm lazy? Probably didn't, I'm too lazy you see. Anyway just be amazed I had the energy to make this in the first place. And let me point out, as much as I'm a small man this sculpture is as big as I am!

I think there are probably some other folks around here who do work with clay... no idea how to find them.

But actual traditional ceramic work is not altogether that common I suppose since few people have the direct access to a kiln that I have.

Especially in these times when the majority of the population is getting relatively poorer when it comes to the luxury expenses such experiments in art or craft.

In the old days my parents (who are the real potters in the family) used to use one of those home made garbage bin kilns. You know, basically a metal garbage bin lined with that heat proof padding stuff (used to be asbestos and such, not sure what the modern replacement is), and a whole for the gas burner at the bottom.

Mind you we also had a brick wood fired kiln at one point.

Infact at one point we used to go and dig clay up ourselves.

How resourceful. I've never tried any of those firings, but I know how they turn out and I like them.

Well you see its built in sevaral pieces, one for the head, two for the torso, two for the tail. It was fired in the kiln (basically filling it) in a disassembled state and then put back together on site.

i like the way it blends into the surrounding flora.... looks natural there, with the rest of the earthy tones.... nicely done.
