Description
This is a project I recently did for my Design class. The assignment was to take an object meaningful to you and put it in a scene that attempts to convay the feelings that the object gives you.
My object was the Paratroop Happy Meal toy I got back in 1990 when Super Mario Bros. 3 came out (I was three!). The scene I created is a parody of the painting "Bathers with a Turtle" by Matisse, giving it a Mario theme (that's-from left to right-Peach, Daisy and Mona, for all two of you out there unfamiliar with Super Mario). My design teacher used this painting as an example of how a random object (the turtle) can convay meaning. But, he lost the page in his giant art book it was on, and asked my to thumb through it while he talked to the class about the lesson. It took my a good 8 minuets to find that painting, and I decided it had to pay.
I did paint it, but enjoyed the pencil drawing to much to let it be forgotten, so I snapped a few pics of it. I'll tell you more about this piece when I post the painted version.(It's in possession of the teacher being graded as of now. The class seemed to like it, though).
