Description
Phew! This piece was about 2 weeks(give or take a day or two) in the making! Sorry it took so long!K, so some of my followers my know, while not outraged or anything bad like that, I had been a bit skeptical about Pokemon Trainer's inclusion in "Super Smash Bros. Brawl." I've always been a huge Pokemon fan, but just wasn't sure he'd work, and then thought it was odd to be able to use a human using Pokemon, as well as using only a Pokemon(Pikachu, Jigglypuff, ect.) But, then, 2 Saturdays ago, I turned on the Cartoon Network, and they were airing some of the old old episodes from when I was just a lad, and the First Movie, and I just got this nostalgic sense, and, seeing Pokemon Trainer's(known as "Ash" on the cortoon) exploits, on par with Mario and Link in "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show", Pit in "Captain N", Kirby in "Kirby: Right Back at Ya!", Donkey Kong and Diddy in "Donkey Kong Country: The Animated Series", and so forth, I had my epiphany. "Hell," I thought,"This guy's just as a keystone of Nintendo as any of the rest. He deserves his spot in the roster!"
In order to commemerate my revealation, I had to do a picture of some kind. Then, this popped in my head. Pokemon Trainer fights in an orthadox way: he stands in the background, and issues commands to his Pokemon, who do the actual fighting for him. An odd rule, which brings me to our friend Solid Snake. Snake isn't one to play by the rules, and does whatever it takes to take down his adversary. Well, wouldn't the best way to take out the puppets be by taking out the puppet master? Just had to give the Trainer one last tribulation...
This scene is set in the "Bridge of Eldin" stage of SSBB, as the sunset would give me the lighting to do the dark shadow over Snake that was really the idea I had before anything else. I just got an image of a shadow-clad Snake popping up out of no where behind P.T., causing much bowl release. I drew and colored the whole thing from memory, you know, to give it that personal, spontanious, expresive feeling, as it was, afterall, a spontanious, expressive drawing. So please forgive the errors around the piece, such as in Snakes outfit, and the numerous color and lighting error. Still not the best at lighting and shadow yet...

Hehehe, during all these years, I've come to this conclusion: in the world of Nintendo, the only rule is: THERE ARE NO RULES!!!

Another person with the same idea I had! I love it! I love it! I mean who bothers going after the pokemon when you can just take out the trainer? Though, you might make the pokemon mad (especially if they liked thier trainer), but you can't say it's not effective. What I really like about this though, is that it is Snake who is going after him. To me Samus and Snake seem like the 2 people who would figure that taking out the trainer is easier than beating the subordinates. I'm sure someone else in Brawl could think of that to, but I can only think of those 2 as of now.... FAVE!!!!

I gotta say, I really see Snake as the only one shifty enough to go for it. Samus never breaks the rules. Plus, it'd make things REALLY awkward at company functions. And the Pokemon would probably appreciate Snake freeing them from bondage.
Thanks for the postiveness!

Uh-oh looks like Snake is being a cheatah gonna beat on a kid! (Do I hear the phrase child abuse about to arrive?) But I think that the Pokmon Trainer is an awsome addition to the Smash Brothers history. But anyway I like how you shadowed Snake. I have seen this done before, but with Donkey Kong and it was done by the VG cats. Nice job with the background too. Nice job.

Meh anyway the Trainer is in the background but you can at least fight the pokemon. And what's different is that with the Pokemon they have Stamina, not damage percentage (similiar to Stamina Match). Still I can't wait to use Charizard. It's good that we get to finally control him instead of just summoning him from a Poke Ball like before. I know also why you should switch every once in a while because each one looses health so if you loose one of them then you loose stock.
Still I wonder what other pokemon will there be to choose from. e.g. Jigglypuff, Mewtwo.

Man this made me laugh pretty hard. I thought it was a little weird that he just stands in the backround and issues his pokemon, and wondered why the other fighters just don't take him out.
Love the expression on the trainers face, and Snake looks so undeniably evil here. I would be freaked out too.

I didn't need to read the description to know that was Bridge of Eldin. The only goof is that the river should be flowing TOWARDS Hyrule Castle, not away. But whatever, it's still good.

naw, cuz this is from the Wii version, so it's all flipped.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Tyson-Stripe In reply to AngstyGuy [2007-10-05 21:09:39 +0000 UTC]
Flipped or not, the river flows towards the castle. In the Wii version, the castle is to the east of the Bridge of Eldin, and the part of the river that flows under said bridge flows east, not west. Your depiction of the river would be flowing west.
Incidentally, if this IS sunset, as you've said in your description, then this sun is setting in the east as well. Perhaps the planet Hyrule is on spins the other way than Earth?
