It's time for a little straight-talk. If you're a dedicated Smasher, then you know... there are some fighters who aren't coming back to Super Smash Bros. For reasons unknown (to me at least) Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, Pichu, Roy, and Young Link are not re-appearing in Brawl. I felt I had to express this firing in a simple, black and white line-art, with only the pink slips colored (you know, as the statement).Here's the full roster, incase you haven't seen it. [link]
Sigh... Young Link I get, as he's replaced directly by Cell-Shaded Link, but Mewtwo is inexcusable. And I liked Dr. Mario a lot! But, I'll save that for a journal entry.
And, hey, I realize this is a fairly obvious idea, so if anyone beat me to the punch; sorry. I didn't see it, and didn't mean to copy.

The thing that gets under my skin is that of these characters removed, Mewtwo was the ONLY one who wasn't a reskin/clone character of someone else. Ganondorf made it over though. I prefer Young Link to Toon Link, and Pichu to Pikachu. That's because I just HATE pikachu though. Pichu is cute, Raichu is awesome, but I hate Pikachu.

Even though these guys were alright, i can understand why they were replaced.
Pichu- Faster but weaker than Pikachu, hurts itself often. AGREED
Roy- A stronger, slower clone of Marth. Liked him more but sadly AGREED (should've been a palette swap for Marth or Ike)
Dr. Mario- similar to Roy. AGREED but he has to be an alternate costume/look like with Overalls Wario.
Young Link- similar to Pichu. AGREED (I like Toon Link more)
Mewtwo- uh... DISAGREED. (Not a big deal anymore but he and Lucario should've been in Brawl. Or at least a palette swap for Lucario.) Hopefully he'll be back for SSB4... unless both guys are replaced by another Pokemon like Zoroark.

I can understand why people like Ike, but both him and Marth are- Blue. (raises eyebrow) that there can cause confusion.

Mewtwo, Lucario, AND Zoroark should appear in the next Smash Bros game. If only one of the above appears, I'm gonna LOSE IT! If two of them appear, I'll go "Close enough".

Dr Mario, Pichu, Roy and Young Link were removed because they were clones (why they then put Toon Link in, I'll never know), but there's NO excuse for removing Mewtwo.
Personally, I say they put back Mewtwo, but KEEP Lucario. Think of the grudge matches.

Here are some major reasons why those characters were 'fired' to my opinion.
Pichu: If you used Pichu before, notice that he sustains self-damage every time he uses an electric attack, people probably became irritated by this 'joke character'.
Mewtwo: It was said he was replaced by Lucario, because he is a more recent Pokemon unlike Mewtwo. But still, I want him back.
Roy: A Fire Emblem character who has been replaced by Ike, who seems to be the most recent protagonist of the Fire Emblem series.
Young Link: Young Link wasn't replaced by Toon Link. Young Link IS Toon Link. Well, that's what i heard.
Dr. Mario: SSBB already has one real Mario. Why would they want another one?

Personally, I would've cut the Pokemon Trainer and put Mewtwo in his place. The Trainer was just an excuse to squeeze in more useless Pokemon without taking up roster slots.

The Pokemon Trainer's equally worthless. He gets to stand there in the background and revel in the fact that he never has to throw or take a single punch. I hate how he makes everyone else look bad. Not to mention that the only one of his Pokemon that's even decent in a Smash Bros. fight is Charizard.
Lucario's just "meh" to me. Cut him or keep him, I don't really care. The Trainer HAS to go, though.

All those characters were my better-halves of those they were cloned after...
Oops! Wait a minute... I forgot... MEWTWO WASN'T A $%*#ING CLONE.
But, I digress (for the sake of your sanity and mine 
Seriously. ALL these guys had potential.
Pichu hurts himself. Nothing to brag about, but a unique ability as it is (and quite entertaining to handle for experts).
Dr. Mario was the slightly altered Mario that worked. Trading speed for power? YES.
Roy may not have been as used as often as Marth... but he was still an interesting character regardless. (I was always more for the sweet spots IN the sword rather than the tip of the blade.)
Young Link could've been Majora's Mask themed, and could've whipped out Fierce Deity Link as a Final Smash. (Too cool.)
But Mewtwo... There is absolutely NO excuse to him being cut out. None! Whether it was for the sake of noobs (him being a popular older rep doesn't mean much, I mean, it's not like Pokemon Trainer's 1st Gen or anything, either...), who knows. Who knows.
GREAT art, by the way. Like how you portrayed each character reacting differently to their... "permanent retirement".

I miss the Doc especially, even though he was a direct clone of Mario. He was my main in Melee. But hey, Fox has two clones in Brawl, and that upsets me (I only play as Fox anyway out of the three).
Mario has Luigi and Wario, but from their moveset I hardly consider them clones, so was there any truth behind removing him? I wonder why they even bothered to put songs and stickers from his game in Brawl if they weren't gonna add him in the first place.

I now have a personal grudge against Lucario and Marth. Lucario replaced Mewtwo, and he also looks stupid. I don't know what people see in the thing.
And why Marth? He replaced Roy. Ike did not replace Roy, and I will never listen to a person who says that. Roy and Ike are totally different. marth is very similar to Roy. Therefore Marth replaced Roy, not Ike. Plus Marth looks like a girl. Even my mom agrees.

Not the way I look at it. To replace something, the replacor generally has to have quite a few things in common with the replacee. Just about the only things Roy and Ike have in common are that they both have swords and wield fire. Marth, in moveset, is more Roy-like than Ike is.

Oh but Marth was in in melee WITH Roy that can't be replacement if he was there from the start with Roy. I do however agree with your other comment. Pichu does pwn all.

Marth replaced Roy in Brawl, not Melee. Melee was a simple advertisement to get Fire Emblem known.
Pichu will devour the souls of his opponents! However, the action usually weakens him and gets him killed. That's why most think he sucks.

Well, somewhere about the internet there's an online petition asking for downloadable content, and Pichu, Mewtwo, Dr. Mario, and Roy are at the top of the list.

Well the Sonic fanboys complained and whined since the first smash bros game that Sonic should be in it. I myself would like to see Plusle and Minun as a sort of Ice Climber like character, that would be awesome.
