Here's number 5 of my 13 monsters! The swamp monster know as The Frog Fiend of Demisemarsh
Demisemarsh, one of the most deadly swamps in the whole world, located in one of a series of lost islands known as New Galapagos. With so few humans to attempt and cull its larger beasts, it became home to some of the most wild and terrifying beasts. And in this swamp, something far more sinister lurks in its waters. No great serpent or unkillable crocodile, but a creature known by the locals as Amphobis, “The Froggish Fiend”. From simple photos, it resembled a mere bipedal frog, but as researchers dug in, they found it comparable in size to a polar bear. Those few villages on the outskirts spoke many tall tales of Amphobis to the team assigned to study the islands. Some spoke of it as a spirit of nature. Some believe it a specially bred frog from a scorned member of the village for revenge, only to be consumed by his own creation. When some went deeper to search, their radios picked up the sounds of deep, bellowing croaks, a mighty, bloodcurdling roar and the horrified screams before it suddenly went dark. No sign of their remains could be found. If you ever hear the sound of croaking, followed by a hideous roar, make great haste, lest you become the next meal of Amphobis…
