C.J. went through a state of depression after another group of gangsters killed his family. He was devastated and broken, but his gang buddies stopped him from killing himself. Seeing as his buddies are the only thing C.J. has left, and they trust eachother like brothers, he decided to live, and take his revenge out of every other gang they come across. He hates nearly everybody, as he became bitter and vengeful. He's still looking for the gang who killed his family, wanting to kill them with his own bare hands.
Weird thing is, I've drawn this while I was really happy. xD Lmao.
I don't really like how that gun came out. .-.

an irken..., like zim, a normally psychotic, laughable and funny character. A character that one can't take seriously. looking sad...its just so awkward that its sort of funny.

That's true, but there are many fancharacters who are not like Zim or GIR. It really depends how you perceive the cartoon.

ok, i am a fan of the cartoon. I liked it when it came out years ago. But how can you percieve a cartoon as something serious? Now things that are supposed to be serious i can get. things like Batman i can understand, but in all honesty, how can a Cartoon that was meant to be just random be taken seriously?

That's not what I meant, really. I meant as in an expanded universe. Jhonen would have elaborated much more on the IZ universe and showed its nature in more detail if he were allowed to go on with the project.
You don't know if it's just randomly made, but the fact that it's entertainment for all kinds of people (whether serious people or the people who watch cartoons for fun) is something we can all be sure of. As I said, it really depends how you perceive it, and how the creator intended the cartoon should've been like.

Ok, now I get it! Because for a while I really didnt understand any of the Invader Zim fanart for a looong time. It just seemed to confuse me on the whole, emo zim art. But I reading this kinda clears it up. But in all honesty I doubt Jhonen wouldve expanded the universe in a dramatic sense, knowing his writing style....he'd probably just make everyone a flipping psycho. Then again, thats just how I feel about the guy after going through a couple of his comics.

Some fanart can be pretty dumb, no offense to anyone. ): But most of the fanart from fans who try and stay true to the canon while at the same time expanding its universe is pretty great and elaborate! You just gotta look into it some more. Tbh I'm not too thrilled about the 'emo Zim'-concept, but eh no one has the same opinions, and the fanart is still pretty okay looking.
Jhonen would make it dramatic and hilarious at the same time. It's just his style, just look at JTHM.
It's okay by the way, the humor is pretty random at times but that's only Jhonen's dark sense of humor.

true, everyone has their own opinions on things. And i guess if they gave more creative license then Jhonen would've done something dynamic with the series....like JTHM (thatwasawesome)He's a great writer, with a hilarious dark side. but one thing i never got was the pairings of characters....like ZimxDib or ZimxGaz? What's your opinion on that?

I personally think the pairings are rather weird. I can only imagine those characters being sort of weird, vague friends rather than anything more. What is canon, stays canon, and I doubt anything romantic was ever presented in IZ in the first place.

True...I haven't seen anything romantic in it. I just saw them as...characters in the same show. But to each their own I guess, and I've seen weirder anyway. ever see any WolverinexSabertooth? ugh. I've never seen any romance in IZ anyway...unless you count pigs and Gir.

lol same here..but sometimes I let my love of the art overshadow a good story. lol thats just me. Oh if you like art styles that are dynamic I'd recommend the new X-force series by Mike Choi. It's all portrait style with gothic textures mixed in.

I saw it! My awesome meter broke the second i laid my eyes on it! And yeah, with Johnny the Homicidal Maniac it is horror-themed...he's a homicidal maniac lol. I loved the style that he used in it and I've tried putting that style into my own art.
with my friends i call him the Goth Deadpool. because they're so similar.

Although I recommend trying to look at it and only implement separate factors of the style in your works, like the eyes or anatomy. I have looked at a lot of styles to try and figure out my own.

Yeah it is great! But I don't like to rip people off. I just add a bit of it in there. Lol I think the screaming faces would prove if I was ripping off. I have my inspirations yet I still love to make my own style. It just feels so good to create something original with a bit of help from a master.

I don't blame you, screaming faces are hard. But I recommend looking at other styles too and mix things up a bit. Rounder shapes, perhaps?

They are some of the time, although you can try and get a cheap one at a local discount store or a small computer store. That's where I can usually get my scanners from, although it helps if you have contacts who know some stuff about computers as well.

First of all, I'd love to say that CJ's expression is really great. It really brings out the emotion of the picture very well. He looks both very sad and angry about his life. You pulled off the expression very well.
I also love his back story. For a while I've been wondering what his back story was like. I gotta say, I love it. It's very tragic... no wonder why he ended up how he is now. XD
You know what? I love how you color traditionally, it's always great. I can't see why you don't like how this came out. The coloring and line art is always nice.
Don't worry, the gun is pretty decent and hey! They're aliens... do the guns really have to look like human guns? xDD That's the great thing about drawing alien guns, you're not bound by those limitations.
