Description
Ok, before I get any flames from my target audience here, let me explain this little stamp here, shall I?If there is one thing, ONE thing that annoys me the most about some (note: some. Not all) girl gamers, is that they constantly have to advertise what gender they are. Does it fucking matter? Yeah, you're a girl gamer. That doesn't mean every guy will just jump at your feet and ask you out. I'm just saying. If you're a girl and you game, that's good for you. That doesn't mean you're good at gaming, or that you automatically are at the top of the food chain and that every guy you own in a game should be ashamed at themselves for being pathetic or anything. We don't need that kind of feminists any more, especially not with such a silly thing as gaming. It just used to be a guys' thing, so what? Yay girls can enjoy their games too now, let's celebrate that by ACTUALLY GAMING, and not ranting!
If you really think gender = gaming skills, you should re-do your math, ladies. I am a gamer too, and from my experience, it doesn't matter what gender you are whenever you are gaming and having good ol' fun. Don't fret about guys mistaking you for a guy either, just politely tell them you're not if you got insulted by it and it should be all good.
And if they're being assholes, just prove yourself and beat their asses. (: In every game there's a few sexist people here and there.
Yeah? Just wanted to get it off my chest.
Inb4 no flaming. I can talk like a civilized person, so I expect that from everyone else as well.
The background for the stamp was blatantly copypasta'd from Steam.

I agree so much. I don't get what's so special about girl gamers now anyway, people can call that 'girls only game for attention' bullshit but a lot of those attention seeking girls give the rest of us a bad name. It's a shame when you can't even state your gender without being asked your cup size. I just want to game in peace.

Agreed 100%.
It's worse when I talk on a microphone when playing online, (I've got a soft high-pitched girly kind of voice, so its easy to tell I'm a girl) and instead of talking about the game, its mechanics, gameplay etc. all the guys would rather ask me my sizes v.v It's really disrespectful.
A girl playing games is nothing special, and not all girls who play games are attention-seeking. Also, 12 year old boys need to stop treating online games as an easy way to pick up a girlfriend. Just....stop.

Agh D: Sorry to hear about that! I've never been asked for my sizes, but it really is quite rude. Guys should really learn how to treat people like people.
And indeed! There's no easy way to get a girlfriend, but the least one can do is treat girls with respect.

Luckily for me, I'm a natural voice actor, so sometimes I just put on a really deep, dark kind of voice, and no one bothers me oWo
Exactly. But then there's the opposite side of the spectrum, when some guy treats the girls with way too much respect with the intention of getting into her trousers. Which is equally terrible v.v

That's good !! I wish I was that talented, haha! I do have a naturally sort of low voice though, so I can go either way.
Indeed unu; They should just be nice for the sake of being nice. The 'nice guy' type really pisses me off lmao

It's okay if you suck! It shouldn't matter. As long as you have fun it's all good 8) Besides, skill comes with practice.

So much this!
It really pisses me off sometimes. They act like it's so incredibly uncommon that they like video games 'although' they're female. This is 2012, for fuck's sake, girls playing games are nothing special whatsoever. The only thing they want is attention. And if you call 'em out on it, they tell you it's because the guys are all sexist and shit. Yeah, right. If you're playing with a guy and he's becoming sexist, lady, you have 2 options. Kick his ass to shut him up or just ignore him and play with someone else. It's the same thing with immature little kiddies. People complain about them all the time, but nobody forces you to play with the little shits, right?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AnimationFan In reply to BloodRedFullMoon [2012-07-02 12:27:30 +0000 UTC]
Exactly! By seeking attention they're only stooping down to their level anyway. It really only makes matters worse.

I agree with this completely, but almost every guy I've met while playing a game has treated me like shit just for saying I'm a girl when they mistake me for a guy. I've even seen them ignore those 'OMGI'MSOSPECIALANDSEXEH' girls just to attack me when I didn't do anything to provoke it.
Those girls give the rest of us a bad rep and it sucks. I just want to play games again without avoiding 'Online mode' or MMORPGs like the plague. I really can't take being bullied, and I used to game to get away from real life bullies.

That's true - some guys are just intolerant to girls - they're definitely not worth your time :\ Same here, but then again I'm not much for multiplayer mode anyway (unless my friends were willing to join me). Sorry to hear about your bad experiences. I wish guys would realize girls can game in just the same way they do.

This is just so true. There are a lot of people arguing about them being special or not.
I personally think that I shouldn't give one single shit about if someone's a female gamer or not.

No one should give a shit. If you're a modern girl/woman, you should be able to take a little friendly jab and NOT advertise yourself like some tool on MySpace.

I know what you mean, I'm a girl gamer and it really shits me when you get some tittering 'blonde' in channel who has to state she is a girl and talk as if she only has a single braincell to work with.
On the other hand I'm constantly getting mistaken for a 12yo boy since I have a slightly deeper voice - which is very frustrating since most gamers tend to hate on younger kids who dare to speak up in voicechat. TF2 is especially bad for it. -_-;

AnimationFan In reply to Skandron [2012-01-12 11:51:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah indeed. Assuming someone's age by their voice is also a thing that's happening, and I can imagine how annoying that is. ): Maybe clearing up the misconception would be a good thing to do, assuming it's a server with gamers who don't hate on girls?
I haven't played TF2 since three updates ago because it just got ruined ):

I know what you mean, I wish there were some classic servers that just ran with the vanilla weapons. I don't mind the hats but all the weapons are getting crazy - and the instability of the servers is a pain in the ass.

AnimationFan In reply to Skandron [2012-01-12 12:30:31 +0000 UTC]
I know, right? The first batch of class updates were cool, but then all the crazy futuristic weapons came and suddenly Valve didn't care about balanced gameplay and going with the 60s theme any more? And the store, UGH. Now people with money can show off they BOUGHT their weapons instead of earned them. :\

Wait, wait, wait, wait - hang on. You're telling me that there are girls on the internet?!
Joking aside, I couldn't agree more. I don't know how many "Girl gamer" youtube channels/websites there are. I'm just sick of it. The best thing though, is that those channels sort of get their little punishment for that by having 90% of the comments being "Ur hot" or "Nice rack"

To me when girl gamers say "I'm a girl gamer" to me it's more about the they are trying to get guys, than actually caring about their gaming. Though I find it a little annoying when girls go "I'm a girl gamer" it's not like most boys help anyways, well at least the idiots at my school, they daaaw when they find out girls game, I mean like wtf dude this isn't the idk like 1800's when girls all had long hair, wore dresses, and stood in kitchens, or were baby-making machines ... we do other stuff.

AnimationFan In reply to AwesomeGaby97 [2010-12-25 09:51:48 +0000 UTC]
Agreed! I think acceptance has to come from both sides. If you say 'I'm a girl' in-game it's fine, but if you're all "I'M A GIRL GAMER LOLOL" then uh :/ Could you make your advances any more obvious? As for guys, just say 'cool' and move on, or have a nice discussion about game mechanics etc. It keeps things interesting. People are just so shallow nowadays.

Society puts too much emphasis on what's against the stereotypical norm, mostly from what they see on TV. It just shows that most people don't get out as much as they claim, or they have a VERY low awareness of who actually plays videogames.
The typical image of a gamer is either a hyperactive suburban male kid that's thirsty for only the most violent type of game where he can break/destroy the most things with a side of gore.
If it's not the wheedling child then it's a morbidly obese balding male in his mid 30s living with his elderly mother because while he can hook up an Xbox 360 to an HDTV and build a computer, he can't function for much else in life... not even doing his own laundry. They are dateless schmos with bad speaking voices and they just can't seem to turn off their perception of fantasy in the real world.
Despite the 30+ years of progress electronic gaming's made over the years, these male-centric images (undesirable ones at that) still come into people's mind when they hear the word "gamer". Just about ANYTHING that goes against that "norm" blows peoples minds.

Yeah, this is so true. Though it's cool when a girl games just not when they rub it in as if it's that great. Me, I just like it when a girl games cause they're easy to have fun with in comparison to girls who don't. Though, I love challenge, not my fault if I find it too easy at the end. : P
