There's an art trend that's making the rounds on Twitter as of late. This trend started after the release of the brand-new trailer for the upcoming Barbie film. In the trailer, we get to see more of the story, where it seems to be about Margot Robbie's character becoming somewhat of an outcast because she's the first Barbie to have her heels touch the ground and question her own existence, and in order for her to learn the truth about her reality, she must venture into the real world, with Ken, played by Ryan Gosling, tagging along. At one point in the trailer, Barbie and Ken are arrested and their mugshots are taken; Barbie is very serious looking in hers, while Ken is smiling in his.

Because of the contrasting expressions the characters are making, artists everywhere have decided to make this a new trend of theirs along the veins of teary-eyed Sailor Moon, or messy hair Buttercup. Just to make things a bit more interesting, the most common characters to be the subjects of the drawing are ships, as there's always a serious one and a funny one. I decided that I wanted to join in on this trend and, after some thinking on who to use, I decided to have Luan and Benny from The Loud House be the ship I want to use. To me, they seemed perfect, since Benny tends to be more of a straight man that his girlfriend, who is literally the pranking master of her household.

While I don't have anything special to say about making this, I want to acknowledge their serial numbers. Kudos to anyone who can figure out what they represent.

To cap this off, I thought I'd share my thoughts on Barbie. Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing this, because, from my standpoint, this seems like it's going to be a satire. What I mean is that, when you think about Barbie, you immediately think of her being this ideal role model for girls. Well, this film seems to ask the question "What if you thrust Barbie into the real world and have her discover that the world isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and that not everyone she meets is going to be nice?" At least, from what we're given in the trailers, that's what I'm interpreting. Alongside that, the film looks visually pleasing, and the performances by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are great so far. I'm really looking forward to it when it comes out on July 21. In fact, on the exact same day, the newest film by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer, will be released, and it's the exact opposite of what the technicolor film based on a doll will be: dark, gritty, serious and biographical. Maybe if my friend is up for it, we might see both on the same day.

Hope you liked this artwork and, like I said, hope Barbie turns out to be a pleasant surprise. After all, it is directed by Greta Gerwig, who amazed audiences with her film Lady Bird in 2017, and her own adaptation of Little Women in 2019.
