Description One's a sweetheart, the other's a con artist, and you know what? I like 'em both!

One character I have always wanted to draw for the longest time was Ms. Chalice from Cuphead.

In the game, she was originally an NPC called Legendary Chalice, and her role in the game was that she would grant you special powers whenever you freed her from a mausoleum. Jumping forward to today, Studio MDHR, the company behind Cuphead, released a brand new DLC to the game called "The Delicious Last Course", where they made Legendary Chalice a playable character, now called Ms. Chalice because she was given a physical body. In the DLC, the story is that Legendary Chalice wants to escape the astral plane and be mortal again and enlists the help of Cuphead and Mugman into getting the ingredients to make a special recipe called the Wondertart, which she believes will bring her back to life. When playing as Ms. Chalice, she is revealed to have a completely different move set than that of Cuphead and Mugman. She is able to double jump, her parrying attack has her dashing forward, and she has a rolling move that makes her invincible temporarily. I have yet to download the DLC because I'm still thinking whether it's worth it, and also because all of my controls got reset when rebooting my computer, meaning I would have to sit down and think about which controls I'm best with.

Before the DLC was released on June 30th, a cartoon on Cuphead called The Cuphead Show! premiered on Netflix back in February. The season consisted of 12 episodes, and the season finale was the episode where Ms. Chalice made her official debut. In the episode, titled "In Charm's Way", Ms. Chalice is portrayed as a conniving con artist, as she uses multiple tricks into charming others give her things for free, whether it's tap dancing, singing songs, acting cute, bribing, among other things. When she meets Cuphead and Mugman, she's initially hostile towards them because she claims that she works alone, but when she decides to teach them some of her charming tricks, she gradually warms up to them. However, when the three successfully trespass into a cookie factory for free cookies, Ms. Chalice accidentally activates a silent alarm, causing police to swarm the building. Out of panic, Cuphead and Mugman accidentally run into each other, knocking them out, and Ms. Chalice, unable to wake the boys and not wanting to scuffle with the police, reluctantly abandons by turning into a ghost and leaving, causing the police to arrest the boys. While this version is vastly different than her game counterpart, the surprising thing about Ms. Chalice's change in personality is that it feels like this is something she would do if she were alive. I'm really looking forward to Season 2 later this month, as it might expand on her friendship with Cuphead and Mugman. In fact, the very first clip they play in the trailer for Season 2 is Ms. Chalice apologizing to the boys for getting them arrested, and at another point, the three can be seen entering a house laughing together while she's holding a trophy.

Aside from playing around with their designs by making the thickness of their outlines different, and using radial blur to achieve the background, I've got nothing else to day about this artwork. Hope you liked it, and here's to Season 2 of The Cuphead Show! when it comes out, and if I ever make up my decision, I hope the DLC will be just as fun as the base game, because this might be one of my new favorite video games of all-time.
