Now while this movie is a childhood favorite of mine. I have developed a bit of a love/hate for it in my adult life....One gripe I have is that I feel the movie is too short. Mainly due to how the film was heavily cut and re-edited had had about a quarter of it's run time cut and if you take out the credits the films only about an hour long.
Now not saying the film should have been super long like 3 hours I personally don't like films that are that long , I the land before time should have been an hour and 20 to 30 mins at least
From what I've seen in screen shots of deleted scenes, storyboards, animation cel's , story book versions of the film and a early draft of a script. There are quite a few scenes i think should have been kept in or been animated. As well as scenes i personally should have been in the film.
For one I think there should have been more scenes of Littlefoot with his mum before she died after her fight with Sharptooth. E.G. I've seen some storyboards of a scene of baby Littlefoot being chased by a snake but his mum shows up and saves him from said snake. And maybe Littlefoot grandparents should have had some scene with actual dialog other then just chuckling. I also think Cera's mum and sisters should have had more scenes and actual lines of dialog and would liked to have had a scene showing they made it to the great valley safely. A part of me would have liked to have seen Petrie hatching in the opening scene along with Ducky, Cera and Littlefoot's birth rather then him just appearing out of nowhere later on. The script also had a more lengthy scene of Ducky's family adopting Spike into their family, which i think would have been better off then them just immediately adopting him and Ducky's mum and dad saying nothing.
The script I read also described during the scene were Littlefoot is settling down for the night in that footprint, Littlefoot hums a song that his mum used to sing to him, which was likely going to be if we hold on together, and his humming of the song is what makes the others one by one come and sleep with him. I think this would have been a nice way to add if we hold on together intot eh film without making it a musical like the squeals.
And I think there should have have been a scene of Littlefoot and Cera patching things up in the end and I guess it just cause I'm one of those Cera not all that bad and didn't deserved all the karma or hate she gets from fans. But maybe have a few scenes showing that Cera isn't as bad as she seems and just a victim of bad parenting. I know cause my dad is a lot like her dad..

Anyway that's all I got for now if I think of more I'll update this and let me know if there anything you think should have been add to the film
