Off in the distance,
As the waves crash around,
A faint light stood out,
A beacon to travelers come home.

Darkness mercilessly shrouded this symbol,
Creating an eerie mist of despair.
However this scene is not entirely dismal,
Ebbing the darkness were splotches of color.

Silhouetted against the fading sun,
Smokestacks and skyscrapers protrude.
The spectrum spilled across the sky,
Colors blended pink, to purple, to blue.

In the midst of this, perfectly placed,
The last sliver of luminescent rock shone bright.
As the tides consistent churning drowned out other sounds,
It created a surreal trance in the minds of two young bystanders.
