the books are actually terrible and poorly written, but the story is kinda cool :T

Agreed. They could have been better written for sure. The ending was a big disappointment in how abrupt and 'welp thur it is' it was. But I do like the story. The idea is enthralling, and if expanded more on, you could do so much with it nnnn.
