I wanted this piece to feel more like a real comic book than previous commissions I've gotten, and I think that came through excellently with the three panels and coloring used here. It pops very well against the black background and is very dynamic for something told without words. Visual storytelling sufficed here - guy finds a strange amulet in the rubble of the Avengers' first great battle, touches it the wrong way, and *FLASH!* He's a superhero now. Well, a superhero*ine*, you could say.

In this reality, the Raptor androids were developed with the secondary sexual characteristics of the intended pilot in mind to help mitigate the dysphoria that could come with being a machine for weeks or months at a time. Unfortunately for Chris here, this particular one was meant for a woman, which results in quite a surprise! Don't worry, it wears off when he changes back into himself. Comic fans may note that the final pose is an homage to the cover of Secret Wars #8 - AKA, the issue where Spider-Man gets the alien costume that would later become Venom.

Remember that everything is canon in the Marvel multiverse; I've even whipped up a designation for the universe this story will take place in: Earth-990816.

Owlapin, the artist on this piece, as well as one of my prior Scream ones, is very approachable if you ever need art done. I've had nothing but good experiences working with her.
