Thank you so much for the compliment on this one and on Friendship, plus the 's on both. I hope you don't mind me replying to them this way, combining messages! I am kept so busy with the RATF site that I barely have time for my own account and try to save time where possible.

You probably need to get yourself a good set of clippers and start trimming out the brambles. Then once that is done prune those roses. I'll be there is someone around there that knows and can give you some advise.
You need to get to those roses, woman... tis a shame to let them languish! *grin*

Thank you so much! It really pleases me you like it. It's a special fractal for me - I made it in memory of my recently deceased daughter. She loved roses so.
Thank you again!

I am terribly sorry you lost your daughter This is the worst that can happen to a mother and I don't know what to say
I wish you lots of good people who grieve with you and give you strength to bear the loss

Thank you, sweetie. I do have a good support system here. My husband is all any woman could ask for, and I have two granddaughters to raise now. My younger daughter lives about 20 minutes from us and we keep in contact a lot. We also had a grief counselor come out to the house last Monday and will be getting together with her on a monthly basis.
You said the right thing... a simple "I'm sorry" is a lot more comfort than some people realize - there's really no need to say anything more. Many people don't say anything for fear of making things worse... but, honestly, there is nothing that could make it worse. The worst is already passed. I hope I'm not being too wordy and this helps you to understand that I appreciate your courage in sending a response.
Hugs,
Anj

Thank god that your or somebody had the good sense to employ a grief counselor especially since there are children involved. Hopefull he/she does a good job. I feel with you.Words from a distance can show sympathy and are better than nothing but healing needs mainly time, lots of time and suport from professionals and those who are close. I remember how it was when we had shocking losses

I'm so sorry you had to experience shocking losses. Grief is always hard when it is someone close.
I've lost both mom and dad and yet neither of those were anything like what I'm going through now. Actually, the admitting nurse for hospice said that she wanted to get Chrys in the program more for us than for Chrys. They didn't come in untill a couple of days before Chrys died. (She was in a horrible accident and it took almost three weeks to determine that the brain damage was too severe for there to be any hope. At that time I took her off life-support.)
Big hugs,
Anj

For me the unexpected losses of young people were the worst. One was 18yrs and the second 8 months. To see old people die is not easy but it's natural and normally you expected to survive them anyway.

Yes, and a death out of order is WRONG. I think that's why the younger ones hit us so hard.

Yes that's it. It seems terribly wrong especially if it's a healthy person with a good life. To make me feel better, if nothing else works, I sometimes find comfort in the thought of what suffering or hardship an early death might possibly have spared them.

I've tried to do that. It hasn't helped much. Sigh... maybe it will later, when the pain is less.

Haven't been able to do it a lot. I've looked at her picture a couple of time, but just CANNOT do that now for very long at all. I have a couple in my scraps - they were digital pics I could just resize and crop, but even that little bit had me in a major meltdown.
When it is easier, I want to scan in every picture I can find of her - from the time she was a baby to last November. Gosh, even talking this way has me on the verge of crying.

Anj

Photos are practical. You can take them out when you need them or keep them locked up until their time is on. I am sure each child will need a personal photo album to refer to when they need to be close to mum and to keep up the picture. Even if they don't look often or ever it's good to know that it's there. There are many different ways to deal with grieve. You have to find yours

AfflictedHeart. A suggestion, if I may. If you want to just play with an easy fractal program, try downloading FTP. It's extremely easy to use, and it's free. It was created by a doctor for mental patients...it's actual name is Fractal Therapy Project. It's very easy, as I said. Just click some buttons and keep on till you get something you like.
Anj, this is absolutely stunning!!!! And CONGRATS on the IFDD!!! This certainly deserves it!
