Wow. Really like this one. This looks like it was created by some giant Nebula Spider in the depths of space. Another fav for sure.
Your work is easily the best fractal work I have yet seen here and is the only work that has inspired me to go and investigate Apophysis.
Stuck you on my Watch list also. Keep em' comin'...lovin' it.

Awww.... ... thank you for the wonderful comment! There are a lot of other fractal artists out there who are easily 10 times better than I am. You might want to check out Psion, or Michael Faber or Joel Faber (yes, they are brothers and they have a sister active online too), or Platinus... oh there are so many.
I'm glad if I have been an inspiration to you to check out Apo. It's not really all that hard to learn, but it does take a lot of patience and practice to make what you want to make. I'm still struggling with that aspect... I don't have the fine control I'd like to have... but I'm learning. *smiles*
I think I already thanked you for the , but am not sure if I thanked you for the
on this work so if I haven't, please consider this a huge thank you!
Hugs,
Anj

No apologies necessary. You know how far behind I am so we are in the same situation. Let's make a pact? No thank you's or welcme;s are necessary because we ALWAYS know the other is the type of person who says thank you, etc. Would that work for you?
Gotta run. My sleeping pill is taking hold in a I can't type!
Love.

Thank you, dear! I think it is probably one of my best.
I don't know if I have any more comments from you... please don't send a "you're welcome" to this... I am sooo far behind. Anyway... meant to say that I don't know if I have any more comments from you, but if I do and don't respond, please accept this as one huge thank you, K? I hope you don't mind!

I am so touched and pleased with your beautiful gift , and its made me cry, you are such a wondeful person , but more, such an inspiration to me, your art reaches out and there are some pieces which I think of every day, I really do feel as if we are related in some way, I think of you a lot ,
love you

Anj - a beautiful spiral! The tonality of the gradient really plays well with the details (now thinking that I need to re-render at a higher quality setting my somewhat similar piece - this one looks so crisp and clean...).

A little hint, Steve. I render at 2000 quality and use the oversample at 4 - uses a lot of memory but seems to give me a better quality finished product. (Oversample means that the fractal is rendered at four times larger (with the setting at 4) and then reduced to the size you've chosen.)
The other hint is to play with the triangles once you get a fractal you want to render. Move each of them very slightly and see if it makes the image any sharper. If it doesn't, undo that result and try with another triangle. Sometimes you'll be amazed at what tiny movements can do.

Anj

Anj - thanks for the pointers. I recently I've be rendering with quality settings in the 10000 range and the over sample only at 3. Will play around with it more. I have noticed that minor tweaking with some of the transforms can make a difference. I'm probably not as patient as I should be on that front (frequently I seem to make things "worse" with the minor playing around...). Persistence and patience s/b employed more often.

I'll keep sending you more pointers as I think of them. The most important thing is to make your fractals sharp. I play with my triangles until I get the sharpness I want. It sometimes take a lot of fiddling - but if I can't find the sharpness I want, I usually give up on the fractal.

Anj

Anj - really appreciate it! A little bit gleaned here and there in conjunction with the hours of actual experience is all bound to coalesce into a true sense of understanding one of these days .

Thank you so much, Steve! I'm really glad you like it. Hopefully one of these days I will get my computer back and be able to render the other gifts (I've saved the parameters). With both of us on here and with less memory than my computer has, I can only do the size renders I like when I reboot. Otherwise there isn't enough memory. I want to make you an extra special gift. You were one of the first to reach out to me when I needed friends.
Love,
ANj

I've come along some. Of course, something like this never goes away. I had a horrid melt down at work on Wednesday - a memory hit me that I hadn't thought of in years and it's only a memory - I have no photos of it. This set me off and I didn't even have time to make it to the bathroom before it hit. So, I sat at my desk in my fish bowl office and lost it entirely. Everyone was kind, but I HATE to cry in front of others. Oh well... I'm not embarrassed, interestingly enough... not even uncomfortable. I guess that goes to show how what I'm going through kinda changes one's perspective on what's important.
A woman I work with who's also lost a daughter told me that the melt-downs really don't go away. She lost her daughter three years ago and she has them still. Another friend told me the same. This helps me to understand that this experience is different - and that it won't go away easily although doing the grief work makes the pain easier to manage.
Love you, Steve!

It is comforting to know others also know what you feel like, even though one doesn't wish these circumstances on anyone. All grief is personal. Love and s.. Steve

Awww... thank you, Big. Eventually I want to give each of my special friends a gift... but it takes time to find the right ones to give... and to render them. David's computer doesn't have enough memory to render the large ones unless I do it right after rebooting... and with both of us on this computer it doesn't happen as often as it would if it was just my computer... so, I have a LOT of parameters saved and will be rendering like crazy when I get my computer back.
Love and hugs,
Anj

Your welcome...
I understand the computer issue...
If I didn't have my desktop I probably wouldn't be rendering and flames....
My laptop just doesn't have the memory...

And the one that's down is my desk top... and I haven't pulled out the laptop because I KNOW that one won't handle it. So... I just have to wait.

yeah I know how that is...
I can make flames but not render on the laptop...
and then if something is different in the settings or variations...
it goes kapow...

Absolutely... I've got a lot to make though. I was telling another that I want to make gifts for all my special friends on here... and I started with Gea because she was the first one to greet me when I joined dA, and she was there with her support through the dark days that followed.
Don't hold your breath because you might pass out... but I will get to you, K? Right now I'm on my husband's computer because mine died and is being repaired and revamped. David's just doesn't have enough memory to run everything and do the large renders at the same time, so I've saved a lot of parameters... and will be doing major rendering when I get my computer back.

Anj
