Here is my first digital painting ever. This one is a kind of exercise to get familiar with the technique. The purpose was to draw as near as possible to the original photo.It took me 20 or 30 hours to achieve this painting on a period of one month o_O (sometimes I just didn't want to look at it anymore lol) I've lost much time exploring but I hope the next one will be more intuitive now that I have a best knowledge of the tools :]
95% done in Open Canvas and some refining in Photoshop. Wacom Graphire II Photo reference

ôh ces yeux... comme je les adore.
Plus je regarde en fait, et plus je trouve ça réussi... On est sans cesse bercé à la limite photo/dessin, a se demander si finalement on est pas en train de regarder une vraie image... Et pis je me dit que ce fut dommage qu'une telle oeuvre se retrouve je tée par la fenêtre. Je te félicite donc de la submittée a temps avant qu'elle ne te fasse péter un câble

ps : pour la mèche de cheveux qui peut en déranger certains, il faut juste rappeler que le modèle avait mis de la laque!! Pfff faut tout leur expliquer aux garçons.

C'est super classe. Ton but est réussi parce que j'ai dû y regarder de près avant de me convaincre qu'il ne s'agissait pas d'une photo.

that turned out nicely. love the feel of it (very oil painting). the only thing that bugs me is the left eye seems a little angled (just a hair) and the hair on the hand... for some reason don't seem to lay right.
I wish I had suggestions for ya on this, but I don't. never tried it.

this is great...especially so for a first painting.
it does look a little strange to me because her hair doesnt seem as real as her skin. her 'brows and the hair around her hand (that comes over it) seems a little rigid and not so natural.
the picture makes me think it is more like a real painting one might see in a gallery than a painting done digitally (and the shadows around her sleeve heighten this for me) and trying to give a real sense of 3d. kudos.

I love this picture. It's so realistic and soft! I'm only bothered by one thing; her hair. It lookslike it's made up of billions of little short hairs like you made it with lots of short strokes instead of long flowing strokes. It makes the hair look rough and unnatural. Just my own oppionion.
Love it otherwise. Looks great
