nice background. but it's not the quality of apple, it's actually higher quality than most stuff you'll find out there. you can fix the brightness of the screen if you go in the system preferences, and choose Displays. you can play around with the settings there.
Mac is actually preferred by 90% of the people in photography and design. that's probably why your school uses it.
