Description
Survivors of the Reaper War.Redo of a few previous sketchy concepts (and visual sequel to one image in particular).
Turian inked on paper, rest in Photoshop CS3.

I love this one. Simply love it. Enough to come back again and again to just look at it.
I like the curve of his profile, and the unusual mandible. The cybernetics are visible but don't distract from his unmarked face. His clothes are simply cool (I will forever maintain the opinion that your turians are the best dressed on DA 
The Reaper makes a nice backdrop. I'd probably have preferred to have one of the spires of the buildings neat its leg in front of the leg to show how freaking huge the Reaper really is. And I actually like the Reaper's colour...it's not as menacing dark, and while it's a formidable presence it doesn't look outright threatening against that bright and friendly sky and cityscape.
I'm wondering what the Sovereign class Reaper in the far background is doing there
And looking at this I can't help the idea that this is the perfect setup for negotiations of any kind. Talk sensibly and a bit meekly, and then conclude with "And please direct any further questions to my associate here." *point to 160m high Reaper*. Okay. Let's blame my lack of sleep for that.

160m? That's close to... 30 storeys... yikes. My sense of scale screwed up. Could definitely use more atmospheric effects/perspective tricks.
I don't think weight will be a problem. Since they are no longer in combat, they can use their eezo cores to lower their density to that of a giant pillow. Hm. I wish I could sew. Reaper pillow...

Ah, what an interesting image! Itβs very engaging. There's that mental roadblock to overcome whenever I see "friendly" Reapers. There's a story here, that's for sure. The blue cloth! It is symbolic somehow, I just know it!
So a little bit of critique (I am much too shy to post it up there ^ ). First, as I mentioned before, this painting has a very strong narrative quality. I find myself returning to it to look at all the different symbolic elements and piece together their meaning. Personally, these types of illustrative images are my favorite. ^^ They give me a reason to keep looking, other than the fact that it's pretty... which it is. I am experiencing a visual hang-up however - the turian's head blends in almost perfectly with the Reaper. The colors are different, but the tone is very veeery similar. They kind of... ah there is a fancy art term for this, but I can't remember what it is... get "tangled". It's especially bothersome because I feel like the turian - and her profile - should be the main subject in this image, but my eye just keeps sliding away from it. My inclination would be to add a haze of blue between her and the Reaper (a little bit of atmospheric perspective, that is) and add brighter highlights to her profile with a fleck or two of almost pure white. (But then, I have always like my turians shiny shiny.) I can see you have that wonderful atmospheric thing going on in the skyline of the city, and it really helps add depth. So more of that, I say! Moar! .... ahaha. So maybe I'm a spaz, but you get what I'm saying right? 
And as always, I totally love that armor/robe thing. You've got quite a knack for design. And the clouds! So beautiful and airy!
.... and you know, it just occurred to me - is that a female turian? I think I've seen her/him in some of your previous work, and my brain has always said "lady". Embarrassing for me if I'm wrong. XD

First of all, thank you for leaving such a well-composed comment! Secondly, I completely understand what you're saying. There is not enough contrast between his (yes, he's meant to be small and kind of girly) face and the Reaper. Darn. Contrast seems to be my biggest issue ALL THE TIME. Sigh. Time to practice before diving into details!

Ah dang. Welp, now I'm vaguely embarrassed. Q_Q Those turians! They all look the same! (le gasp! Racist!)
Awww, don't beat yourself up about it! Contrast is something I always have to make conscious decisions about, myself. I found good practice is to think in lights and darks. If you have a highlighted area, put a dark next to it. If you have a shadow, lighten the background behind it. Ect, ect. As an artist, you're allowed to "lie" a little to get the effect you want. Here's a really good example from your gallery: [link] ! mmm....Saren. The effect is exaggerated, but the concept is the same. Obviously, the higher the contrast the more focus will be drawn to that area.... so that's where the decision making comes in... blagh. I'm rambling now.

I love the noble, Roman look of the turian, and the composition of this. It evokes the idea that there could be a whole unique story set in the ME universe after synthesis. Very cool.

I picked it at first solely because I was afraid Tali would die without her suit if I destroyed all technology. I'm not sure that actually makes sense in the context of the game, but it was my reason. Also in my head Shepard always had a bit of a complex over being half-machine after Lazarus, and this way that would be normal.
