Description
Actually, the oficial name of a train on the left is "CityElefant" and I have no idea why the whole name is not in EnglishFew more related shots:

I find it funny that these two are doing essentially the same or similar jobs, pulling commuter trains of passengers.
That tank locomotive's headlight positioning is actually quite familiar to me as many locomotives where I live (US) have the headlight on the center of the smokebox with a number plate below.

Beautifull picture and great colors on that steamer. The "elephant ears" sort of remind me of Union Pacific #844.

So THAT"S what inspired Thomas The Tank Engine (he has the same color) I like it!

Thanks It was a lucky shot to get EMU and a steam locomotive with the identical colours in the same picture

Thanks a lot!
"CityElefant" units are getting new colouring so this paint scheme will be rare to see in the near future.

Your very welcome
Liveries change very fast wherever you are it seems, so recording them keeps things interesting!

That's cute! It's cool that you were able to get both a new and old one in the same picture, not to mention with a good composition, and the same colors scheme to boot. Well done!

Thank you! I found this spot and I was waiting there about ten minutes before the new train started departing the station. It is not clear from the picture but there were lots of people around taking photos so I did not want anybody else to occupy "my" place

Thanks a lot! Yes, I also like how those colors match. I hope one day I will be lucky enough to take a picture of a steam locomotive and Pendolino (the most modern train used by Czech railways) together at the same station but considering Pendolino colors are turquoise, yellow, grey and black (see here: [link] ), I do hope the steam loco will be just black

Is that Praha-Masarykovo Station?
That shot is simply great.

Yes, it is Masarykovo Station. How did you recognize it? There is so little shown from the station, it could be anywhere else.
And thanks for your compliment

Lets say that realities on the Breclav Route for MSTS are well made. I actually love the Czech Railways, and so far I have made a lot of departures from the virtual Masarykovo Station, and that building and platforms were very familiar to me...
And If am not mistaken, there are some Os train services departing and arriving from Kolin.
Ah well, you're welcomed!

Ah, that's how you recognized the station Nice!
And you are right about Os train from Kolín. Route 011 Praha-Kolín is my favourite, I use it almost every day

Hehe, thanks.
Yeah, I like those CD 471 / CD 971(If I am not mistaken, these are the numbers of the non-powered driving cab car).
I saw some videos on Youtube of cab-rides, I enjoyed the sounds.
And that's really cool you use it every day! I would call you lucky... but then again, it must be tiring.

I hope I get that terminology in English right because I don't want to confuse you but:
471 unit is a Power-Driving car, 971 unit is a Driving car (non-power) plus there is 071 unit in the middle that carries no traction or power related equipments.
No, it is not tiring at all
Ok, sometimes it is but fortunately I can choose a fast train or a regional fast train, depending on time I need to travel. I think it is quite comfortable travelling by CityElefants but they should adjust the air-conditioning system better – there is sometimes so cold inside (and it is not only my opinion). However, having in mind those terrible Bdmtee cars I don't complain at all
That's funny about enjoying sounds those cars make. It is the same with me but I am slightly old-school – I like the sounds steam locos make

Exacly that was what I meant about the CD 471 and CD 971, and also, I actually forgot that middle 071 unit.
So you can choose from a R or a Sp, instead the Os? Is that?
Yeah, those CityElefants are actually good looking and probabbly they are confortable. Oh, but I have a question, those cars with passenger compartiments there, are they confortable? I ask you this because we have had here some of those styled passenger cars with compartiments, and for me, they were better than the actual renewed ones(Renewed from those I am talking about).
I mostly enjoy the sounds of the locomotives of there make, I just love the CD 362 and CD 363 sounds so much....

Yes, fast trains are marked "R" and regional fast trains "Sp" in my country and I prefer them but when there is no other way out, I travel by Os
Are you asking after those green cars? If so, those are not regular passenger cars, they are used only for historical rides like that day. My picture is not very good, take a look here: [link] to see how they look. They are not used anymore now.

Hehe, I know some basic train stuff from there... makes me happy.
I really want to visit Czech Republic...
I have that Cesky Drahy Program that tells you all the timetables... and I actually see many train services from/to the same destinations, which is really cool.
Nope, I was talking about these cars: [link]

(Thank you so much for the site!
It has Portuguese cars there as well!
).

But I think the Czech railways does not deserve to have fans abroad
Ah, these cars... Well, if they are comfortable it depends on how much demanding you are Those A cars are fine, visually not much to look at but it provides you quite lots of space for legs and seats are comfortable. Those B cars are also fine but when there are eight passengers in it, you feel packed like sardines
However, everything is better than leatherette cover
Yeah, it is a useful site. It is good to know what railways companies from abroad have at their disposal for passengers Those Portuguese cars looks interesting but I suppose it is not complete.
In case you will visit the Czech Republic, I hope you will be lucky not to travel by Bdmtee cars...

Comboio-Bolt In reply to AnkaAI3 [2010-05-21 23:14:12 +0000 UTC]
Why do you say it doesn't deserve to have fans abroad?
Well, for me, those cars look great. And those B cars(2nd Class), well, you probabbly pay less than travelling on a A car(1st Class), its all fair enough.
And actually... that Passenger Cars site has basicly all the cars used here nowadays... We basicly only use our Renewed Sorefame Cars [10-74 1st Class Sorefame IC], and the Corail Cars [19-97 2nd Class Corail].
We were using the old Sorefame cars [21-40 2nd Class with Compartiments] on the Sud Express Train, but since it got replaced by a new consist(A Spanish Talgo Train), they aren't used anymore.
LOL... I am willing to travel on any train if I go there... I really love your trains.

I just think the Czech Railways are years behind the times... Its rolling stock is obsolete and it is not the only problem. However, I must admit things are changing slowly for the better.
Yes, of course, travelling by B cars is cheaper but 6 months ago, I bought an In-gold card allowing me to travel unlimitedly in the first class and second class cars. So I prefer A cars now and I'm enjoying it
Well, for me, those Portuguese cars look better than Czech cars
Damn, I am so late in replying messages...

LOL, take your time.
The Czech Railways still have what Portuguese Railways have: Locomotive with Cars consists, its something appreceated by most of anyone who likes trains. But yes... there are a lot of "obsolete" rolling stock there, but I must say... I love that obsolete rolling stock.
But its good to know that things are changing to better... even though slowly.
Oh... I see, well, of course.
I would prefer to use the 1st Class as well.
They may look better, but they don't offer you the fun that those Czech Cars may offer... (Such as opening windows ).

Lots of people complain about travelling by train here but you seem to be an ideal client of the Czech railways
Yes, Czech cars offer lots of fun Actually, I also prefer cars where I can open a window
I just think it is good I can compare 1st class cars with 2nd class cars from my own experience

LOL.
I wouldn't mind to travel there at all...
Czech Cars are awesome.
Here, I can compare 1st class cars with 2nd class cars, from my own experience as well, but, in my opinion, here, its basicly all the same. They are all comfortable.
