I fav or collect a deviation if I like it so much I want to be able to find it again, be it for enjoyment, reference, or to show to other people.Yes, it's interesting to know why someone likes a deviation, but I, personally, feel awkward leaving comments like "that's cute" or "wow" - and I am not willing to spend 5 minutes trying to come up with a more in-depth comment when nothing comes to my mind to start with.
I don't get why some people think getting a compliment in form of a fav entitled them to a comment on top of it. Asking politely if you're really curious is one thing, but demanding a comment, now, that's rude.

I know there are other stamps on the same topic, but I wanted something that was easily readable and not including a complaint directly.

Perhaps one. But if you let me ask you a simple question, what about when there's more than 100 of them from the same person in the same day? For what I know, people who does that usually don't even take a look at the pics in the first place, so there's no way to know if they actually like the works or not. I'd say, if they have that much time to fav so many pics, they have time to fav a few of them and leave comments. I don't mean to sound rude or start a silly argument over something as trivial, I'm just stating my perception on this. I can deal with one or two favs, but what I cannot stand is when somebody favs too many of my pics like there's no tomorrow and say nothing at all, because of the reasons I said before.

When I /do/ comment, I oftentimes don't get a reply at all. I'm a conversational person, and I don't like being left neglected and all... not-replied-to. :/

Same here. Sometimes people don't have the time to write comments (or in my case, a faulty computer that won't let you comment sometimes).
