When I saw the thumbnail for this piece, the dangling blue sleeve on his arm reminded me the wings of a Hyacinth macaw. The colors are extraordinary and compliment each other very well. I really love it.

what a beautiful use of colors, blue is certainly not my favorite normally, but it definitely is here! the gentle transition between that and the yellow really catches my eye (aside from the obvious things..)
love the shape of his face, too. wish i could do as much justice to my own characters.

i love your drawing! but were did u heard that the first belly dancers were men? im from egypt and we know the the first belly dancer were the dancers that were preforming for the pharaohs, then in the arab tribal the belly dance was danced for intertainment, and originaly the belly dancers were preformed by females for females in some of middle east and north africa,belly dancers can be preformed succesfully only by women for their ability to preform varaious complex moves that require alot of agility that i think men lacks it! but we do have male dancers but the r not definatly belly dancers, but then again, this could be your first character of a male belly dancing!

that is not accurate at all. some of the most amazing oriental dancers(the correct term for it) are men. the movements are able to be done by them just as they can by women.

oriental dance has been around for centuries and was performed by men and women. men dancing in such a manner is by far NOT a modern thing.
during the ottaman empire as female dancers were for females in the harem(as only female were allowed present other then eunuchs), the men started to perform in public. they were termed, rakkas: kocek and tavsan oglan. the koceks were the most feminine often allowing their hair to grow long and wear female clothing.
NOW if you would please learn history I would appreciate it greatly particularly about a dance I participate in.

im sorry! i didn't mean to be rude or anything. i just stated based on the knowledge i know. cause belly dancers are famous in egypt and turkey. and im from egypt. and all we got is the women belly dancers but i never heared of men belly dancing but when i looked up "like u said" i found that is popular in other places.all i want to say is great art thats all

I this this is the first digital painting of a male bellydancer I have soon on DA so far... And I do like it
Reminds me of my friend Yousef Constantino ( [link] and [link] ) , of the Arabian Dance School, aside of the fact that Yousef definitely has more muscles, and he is kinda short... but he is an awesome bellydance beyond words.
As an amatour I bellydance as well.
