Description
This is something I've been working on, a bit at a time, for the past few weeks. Modelling each object in 3D proved to be a huge task and took a lot longer than I originally thought but the feeling of completing it was awesomeRead more here on my blog (inc. some close-up details).

This is absolutely perfect! Every element matches up to what its used for in real life! Good job!

Maybe this should be distributed in elementary schools to help kids learn science?
I love it^^
Great work.

this is awesome! makes it a billion times easier to memorize this way. kinda like those cute cards for the alphabet that has an apple for A and a bird for B and so on. great idea, thanks for posting this! wish they had something like this when i was in middle school. lol.

Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table because he only recognizes one element: the element of surprise.

Very good work and awesome idea... I'm just curious, if the final effect was going to be so simple and flat, 2d vector looking, on regards to icon design (nothing wrong with that btw), why not just do it in vector?
This could have easily be done with CorelDRAW, Illustrator or Freehand
Anyway, which ever was the path to the final result, good job

Thanks for your comment - working in 3d allows me to create objects in a way that gives me complete artistic freedom - rotating objects, changing perspective etc. The final result may look 'simple and flat' but I feel the process of every image is important & not just the result. Hope that answers your question

otas32 In reply to AnnekaTran [2009-11-02 22:59:47 +0000 UTC]
Like I said, the path is not what's important.
For instance, if I where to do this, having in mind the type of end result I wanted, I might avoid the modeling process in 3ds max (my choice of 3d tool) and instead work out angles, positions and design of each item with pencil and paper, and after arriving at the desired iconography, I would jump directly to a vector application
Cheers

For Americanium (Am), you could've put a smoke detecter. Just a suggestion.
Overall, I wish New York state would've had this as the periodic table on our reference tables for the Chemistry Regents exam. T.T
