I'm wondering if these are actually made in a 3D program or made in a 2D program with some awesome trickery to look like 3D.. ie. isometric pixelling?

No no, my stuff is actually 3d..no trickery here. One of my aims is to try and make the 3d appear more 2d so I guess it kinda works!
