Description

    Penny sighed as she finally was able to get home. She was training all day, but then Nigel stopped her for dinner. It was nice at least, but it wasn’t what she was planning. She really wanted to go home and sink into a murder mystery that she was entranced in.
    She opened the door to her room and felt immediate relaxation. Or at least… that’s what she felt at first. There was an unwanted presence here. She whipped around and had her claws bared. Hiding behind the door was a familiar green figure.
    “Who, what the hell are you doing here in my room? You’re lucky I haven’t killed you, only because I want answers,” Penny said with narrow eyes.
    “Oh, put your claws away, I just wanted to ask a few questions,” she said with a smirk. She took a few steps forward and Penny didn’t let her guard down.
    “Alright, ask your questions and get out, then,” she said.
    “Well… Nigel told me that you’re not afraid of anything. But there’s gotta be something!” she said. “I dug a little bit into your past and well…” she started. “Perhaps you’re afraid of becoming a monster like your mother.”
    Penny’s eyes widened and she stomped forward. “My mother wasn’t a monster! How dare you! You know nothing of my kin!”
    “Perhaps I don’t… But until you prove otherwise I am going to guess that you’re afraid of becoming some kind of destructive force that destroys everything, and you won’t have any control about it...” Who said. She sure had a punchable face.
    Penny snarled and whipped her flaming tail in front of her. For a brief second, Who’s eyes widened and she backed away ever so slightly. Was that her weakness? Was she afraid of fire? If so, Penny had a dastardly plan. “You have a lot of nerve coming here and saying these things. Why don’t we try to settle this with a battle? Unless if you’re too much of a coward…”
    Who’s eyes widened even a bit more, but she regained her composure. “I-I should have suspected as much. I can’t just come in here talking crap, can I? I’d be happy to settle this once and for all with a battle.”
    “Then meet me outside,” Penny growled. Who gave her a sneer before she left. Penny sighed, really not in the best shape to do battle, but if she knew Who’s weakness, then perhaps this could be dealt with quickly.
    She went outside to the big field where battles were often held and saw Who standing there. Penny couldn’t wait to smack that smirk off her face. She stretched her arms out until she was nice and limber. It seemed Who was doing the same. “Here, you can even go first,” Penny said with false politeness.
    “Don’t mind if I do,” she said. She rushed at her while dancing. The way she was moving was with such fluidity. It was difficult to determine where she was going to try to land a hit. This must have been Revelation Dance. If Penny was quick enough she could probably parry her, but Who kept dancing around. At the very last second she went in for a strike, which knocked Penny off her feet.
    Within moments Who was at a safe distance again. Penny felt mildly disoriented, but her anger never wavered. She grit her teeth and stood up. You know what? No mercy! She was eager to end this as quickly as it started!
    She took a deep breath before spewing a massive stream of fire from her mouth. Might as well give her a bit of a scare, right? Maybe she would finally leave her alone after this? Penny guided the fire just so that it wouldn’t even touch Who, but instead surround her.
    From a distance, she immediately saw Who shrink into a pitiful ball of fear. She was trembling as she was desperately trying to look for an escape from the fire, but to no avail. The flames completely surrounded her. The flames weren’t even touching her yet.
    Penny thought she would feel satisfied upon seeing a fearful Who, but instead it just brought her… guilt. Guilt and shame. Was she really becoming the monster she feared she could be?
    Penny stopped the flames immediately, and the heat faded away. Who was on her knees, eyes squeezed shut, still trembling from the attack. She opened her eyes upon feeling the heat of the flames had disappeared.
    Penny started to approach her carefully. Who’s eyes widened as she recoiled. She wasn’t going to fight back, nor could she in that state. Penny simply kneeled down before her and looked at her solemnly. “Wh-who… I’m sorry. I don’t want to cause you so much pain.”
    Who blinked, not believing her ears. “W-what? B-but I disrespected your family, I disrespected you!”
    “That doesn’t mean you deserve pain!” Penny said. “I’m horrible for trying to scare you like that. I’ll admit it, I am afraid of becoming a monster. Not because my mother is one, because she isn’t, but because there’s potential. I get angry too easily. You’ve seen that first hand. You may be a bit of a pain in the neck, but you don’t deserve to be at the receiving end of that. If you go back to annoying me, that’s fine, but at least I wouldn’t have hurt you.”
    Who has tears forming in her eyes, and she still is shocked at what Penny has said. But she shakes her head and jumps into Penny’s arms. “P-penny! I don’t deserve such mercy! I’m a coward and a liar! I’m nothing like you! You’re so strong and amazing!”
    “H-hey,” Penny said, blushing from the sudden affection. “Where’s all this coming from? Come on, look at me...”
    Penny pulled Who out of the hug. She was still crying, so Penny wiped away some of her tears. Who blushed at the action and stared at Penny wide-eyed. “I… I admittedly always thought you were very beautiful. The way you dance is… entrancing. We obviously got off on the wrong foot. Do you want to try again? Want to be friends? Maybe… something more?” she asked. She leaned in and placed a kiss on Who’s forehead.
    Who blushed feverishly again and put a hand to her mouth, possibly to hide the big smile she was getting. She leaned forward and hugged Penny again. “I would love to, Penny.”
