Those who gave their lives so we can be a free nation under God.For those who gave their service and time and youth.. to protect us on land, air and sea..
For those men and women who knew God country and YOU were important.
You know who you all are... Be proud ...We all appreciate what you have done for us.
My husband was one.. he was in the Navy... He was a disabled vet and died in 2004... I miss him...

march 22 it will be 14 year now... was a sa day... for me and my children but.. he was at rest finally... he lived longer then they thought he would..

I'm so, so sorry, Annie. 14 years. That's an awfully long time. Do you light a candle that day? It must have been a terribly sad day. I'm just glad you still have your children, but it's still really hard.
Why? Why did they think he would have to pass away earlier? Was he so injured?
(I'm so sorry for my late reply. I have had some healthy issues lately and yesterday I wasn't well at all, otherwise I would have written back earlier.)

Yes it was hard on the whole family.. it took his lungs by the time he was 36... tweaked his heart... he had a lot of intestinal issues. The doctor said his insides were as if he was 90.. he had so many operation the just refused to operate anymore.. and he signed a DNR

Oh no, that's terrible... You say it took his lungs? Cancer?
The heart, intestinal issues... I'm really very shocked. What a nightmare to go through, how could this happen? Was anyone at least made responsible for that?
I can't even imagine such a terrible situation. He was just a year older than I am now, and you say his inside was like the one of a 90-year old man?
And all the operations...
I'm so speechless, really. I can't say how sorry I feel for you, him and your children. You all were so strong going through that.
My words are just not enough to say that I'm sad for you, really, really sad.

no it was a military accident... we were in the cold war at the time. .. he was in a nuclear submarine... they did not know they were expose... any how.. it is over.. been many years.. and yes i do miss him.. his death anniversary is coming up next week... i usually shed tears but go on... some times its bad.. but most of the time i just try to treat it as any other day... you learn to pick up the pieces and move on stopping to remember the good with the bad.. its a balancing act... and no i do not know that man that lost his sister

Now I understand and see the situation. So he had to find out later that he was exposed to such dangerous material... I'm still very shaken and touched by what you all went through.
I hope I didn't make you feel unwell by asking about it.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you when his death anniversary is coming up so soon. That's a difficult day to go through.
It's very human when you feel like crying. I'm the same way. Sometimes I just try to go on because I think my mom would have wanted it that way. Another time it knocks me down the day she passed away.

Yes... its preparing for the day... and making it through.. if i remember im ok if i forget and dont prepare i feel bad and its usually not good.. last year wa like that i didn't realize it until it was the day and it hit me hard. people dont understand... that you can start crying for no reason... this year ive been watching it know its coming next thursday ... so i got a bottle of roscato.. and ive been remembering good times.. and ive been talking with the kids... so im good i hope..

Yes, I think it's best when you're prepared for it. I know how hard you can be hit when the day "comes out of sudden". Once I experienced that too. I hadn't prepared and suddenly realized it was that day...
I think you have very good reason to cry. You lost your husband, partner and probably best friend.
I've experienced that many people start being very understanding when they had to go through the experience of loss too. It's difficult for some of them to imagine what it is like. How hard and sad it can be.
It's so great you drink roscato in his honour and remember the good times. I also like that you talk to your children about their father. It's very important.

I was wondering that yesterday.. I always thought of them separate.. than I was in a store.. they had tears shirts. I couldn't find the marines or coast guard or national guard..so I was figuring national guard as army.. coast guard as navy.. but .. no marines.. so thank you for clearing that up for me
