Description [Investigation of Female TF - Anthro Black Cat]

Lining up her paws with the pedals in her hatchback had been tricky, but she'd quickly got the hang of driving in her current form.  Just in case, Jean was going a little slower than usual.  She had also put on a disguise, bundling herself in a loose-fitting sweatshirt, baggy sweatpants she stole from her husband's drawer, a scarf to cover most of her face, and a beanie to cover her ears.  From another car, her furry paw-hands would probably just look like black gloves, and nobody could see her feet from that angle any way.  She was also wearing dark sunglasses to hide her reflective golden irises and not freak out the few cars still driving around the small town.  Even though it was night time, her sight evened-out through the dark glasses thanks to her new eyes and accompanying night-vision.  Occasionally, when there were no other cars around, she would take a peek around them, noticing just how bright the street lights actually were.

Slowly, she came to her destination: 'The Municipal Park and Adjoining Forested Area'.  Her local council were terrible at naming things.  Parking near the low fence around the “General-Purpose Sports Field”, Jean turned off the engine and rolled her window down halfway.  Then she removed her beanie and glasses, and in the silence that followed, Jean watched and listened for any signs that there was another human being in the vicinity.

“Another human.”  she thought.  “I don't exactly qualify as human any more.  I'm at least thirty percent cat right now, probably more.  I'm an animal.  Well, humans are animals anyway, technically speaking.  But still, I'm no longer fully human.”

She could hear various small noises through the triangular ears atop her head, but none of them correlated to human activity anywhere near the area.  With her golden, slitted eyes, she scanned the field in front of her windscreen, she looked around the nearby playground, and swept her gaze across the tree-line of the adjoining “Forested Area”.  Thanks to her now feline sight, what little moonlight that shone through the clouds was enough for Jean to be able to see as if it was merely a late afternoon instead of late at night.

She smiled wide, her fanged teeth gleaming in the moonlight.  The area was clear of humans, which meant she had the run of the place.  Stepping out of her car, Jean realized that the clothes she was wearing now were definitely going to interfere with the field test.  Making another furtive glance around the area to ensure she was indeed alone, Jean removed the rest of her clothing and tossed it onto the passenger seat as her dark-cherry hair fell into her face.  She went to sweep it behind her ears, then stopped as she remembered where her ears actually were now.  Instead, she grabbed a spare hair-tie from the glove compartment and tied back her locks in a ponytail.

Jean grabbed her athletics arm-band that usually held her music player while she jogged, then locked her car and secured the key safely in the arm-band's velcro pocket.  She tried shaking her arm around in various directions, and once she was satisfied that it wasn't going to slip, Jean walked out to the edge of the field.

The air had a soft chill to it that Jean couldn't really tell was there thanks to her full-body coating of jet black fur.  The grass under her paws was cool and dry, making a rustling noise as she stepped that she could easily hear with her feline ears.  The field was large enough for a regulation game of football to have been played on it, but was rarely used for such in this small town.  Jean picked a starting and ending point, then with a deep breath, she ran.  She covered the length of the field in what was definitely a personal record for herself, and might have broken one for the entire state.  Barely out of breath, she turned around and sprinted back to her starting point, the wind whipping her ponytail around behind her, and her digitigrade legs providing an almost leaping gait.  Slightly out of breath now, Jean looked across the field to try and gauge what she'd just done.  She'd always tried to stay fit, but this was incredible!

Catching the little bit of breath she'd lost, Jean moved on to her second trial.  Crouching down, Jean leaned forward and put her hand-paws on the ground, now supporting herself by standing on all-fours.  Thanks to the change in her legs and arms, her back and shoulders were aligned horizontally, equally distributing the pressure between all of her paws.  Thanks to the increased strength and flexibility she'd programmed into The Treatment, Jean felt no discomfort standing like this.

“Can I really call this 'standing'?” she thought.  “I mean, sure, I'm using my limbs to support my body by holding it off the ground, but I still have arms and (admittedly very paw-like) hands.  But, then, what would I call it?  Oh, who cares, 'standing' is fine.  So I'm standing on all-fours.  I'm standing on all-fours!  This is so awesome, let's try some other poses.”

Jean tried lowering her body to the ground, lying on her front with her knees bent up and paws tucked against her sides, elbows back and hand-paws beside her shoulders.  She looked ahead, her eye-line level with the tops of the sparse daisies that had sprouted around the field.  She could feel the occasional blade of grass poking through her jet black fur, but otherwise was still well protected.  She swished her tail back and forth behind her, smiling to herself at what little conscious effort it took now.

Pushing up with her hands, Jean lifted her upper body, leaving her butt on the ground.  She walked her hands back towards her seated crotch, wrapped her tail around the front of her paws, and sat like a cat, giggling to herself with glee.  Then, she walked her hand-paws forward a few paces and raised her butt in the air.  Gripping the grass in front of her, Jean arched her back and stretched, hearing a couple of clicks and pops from her various joints.  Standing straight on all-fours again, Jean swapped her gigantic smile for a look of concentration as she decided to start walking like a cat.

Walking was kind of easy.  Having crawled before as a human, and also seen many cats walk in her lifetime, Jean knew the mechanics of walking like the back of her now furry hand.  Striding confidently, if slowly, Jean was walking around on all-fours with ease.  She tried speeding up, eventually reaching a point where she knew she had to start doing that cute little trot that cats were able to do.  This was harder than it looked.

Thanks to the increased strength and flexibility of her limbs, Jean now had the shock-absorption of a cat.  The trotting was performed with short hopping-steps, allowing her to gain a bit more speed, but still limiting.  After a few minutes of trotting around in a large circle, Jean had the hang of it and decided to step up to a gallop.  She'd seen documentary videos about how this was supposed to work with four-legged animals.  Starting with a soft leap, and maintaining momentum with a quick pace, only one paw actually touched the ground at a time.  This took Jean a bit longer to master, accidentally stepping on her own paws a couple times and tripping herself into a roll.

Undeterred, she pressed on, and eventually Jean was galloping on all-fours.  She grinned and whooped loudly before realizing that she didn't want to draw attention to herself, and self-consciously slowed down until she came to a stop and sat in her previous cat-like pose to catch her breath.  The grin returned as she thought over what she'd just accomplished, and she brought a paw-hand up to her face to inspect it.  Her paw-pads were only slightly dirty, the grass was pretty clean around here, no patches of dirt or dust to ruin her fur.  Once she'd caught her breath, there was one more level Jean wanted to try.

She'd seen cats sprint when they were frightened or trying to catch something, leaping horizontally across the ground, front paws exchanging purchase with their hind paws as they moved.  Jean wanted to master this.  Standing up on all-fours again, she knew this one started with a straight leap forward.  The first try brought her face straight into the grass as she didn't get her legs forward in time to take the weight from her paw-hands, instead sliding along the grass on her chest.  Her breasts certainly felt that through the fur, her bodyweight crushing them against the ground.  She rolled over and sat up on her butt, legs out in front like a human, and massaged her chest with her paw-hands while she tried to plan her stride out in her head.

Trying again, Jean was back on all-fours, looking straight ahead at the other end of the field.  Crouching a bit, she dug her claws into the grass and leaped forward, and for a second, everything felt like it was in slow-motion.  Extending her arms out in front of her, Jean landed on her hand-paws to take the weight of her body as she continued to move.  Bringing her legs up by her sides, she shot her feet forward into the ground beside her hands as they moved below her, then quickly brought her arms up ahead of her again.  Pushing forward again with her legs, she shot forward through the air as her arms reached out and her hand-paws hit the ground, and then everything went back into regular time and now Jean was sprinting like a cat across the field.  Within barely any time at all, she had reached the far side and was quickly running out of room.  With a brief look to her left, Jean tilted her body and started a wide turn in her sprint, curving back around to face her starting point.

“Oh frick.” Jean swore as she realized she didn't know how to stop.

With a few shuddering leaps that turned into a quick gallop, Jean slowed enough to jam all four pawed limbs into the ground and lean back, skidding across the grass to a short halt that turned into an ungainly roll as her claws snagged on the grass.

Feeling rather warm now, Jean sat on her butt, arms out behind to support herself, legs out in front.  She was breathing pretty heavily, having just done a fair amount of sprinting, but thanks to her new fur and skin, she wasn't sweating.

“Right,” she said aloud to herself, “Cats don't sweat.”  Just for fun, she tried sticking her long, flat tongue out and panting like a dog, but it didn't really feel like it was doing anything for her.

Once she'd caught her breath, Jean decided to get some more practice in.  She rolled back onto all-fours and trotted towards the tree-line a few yards away from the edge of the field.  The trees were fairly dense, only six or seven feet apart in most cases, this forest being one of the small preserves of natural land within the boundaries of the small town.  Sitting cat-like in front of one of the trees, Jean stared up at the large trunk and the branches above, following a random line of connecting boughs through the canopies of a few of the mighty plants.  She wasn't sure what kind of trees they actually were, but they looked strong and sturdy.  Lifting her butt off the ground, Jean crouched, tensing her leg muscles before leaping upwards against the tree.  She reached about ten feet off the ground before trying to dig all of her claws into the bark, hugging the trunk tight as she slid down slightly.

Hanging there, gripping the bark, Jean smiled to herself.  “I must build up the courage to try running straight up the side of a tree next time.  If regular cats can do it, surely I can now too!”

As she'd done in her back yard, Jean climbed the tree one limb at a time, still not yet confident enough in her abilities to try leaping up the trunk as she'd seen cats do.  That would take a bit more practice at a later date.  For now, she reached the large branch she was aiming for, and gripped it with all of her claws, balancing atop the branch on all-fours.

“So glad I upgraded my balance & agility.” Jean mused to herself as she slowly walked along the branch to the connecting tree.  Looking down was a mistake, because she could now guess that she was nearly 20 feet off the ground, which made her a little nauseous.

“Ugh... that's going to take some getting used to.”  she gripped the branch tighter with all of her clawed limbs, and slowly continued her walk to the other trunk.  Once there, she reversed her process, tightly gripping the trunk as she climbed down backwards, one paw at a time.

“Wait... I wonder...” Jean thought to herself as she descended to around eight feet above the ground.  Calculating the turn she'd have to make in her head, Jean pressed closer to the tree, then retracted her claws and pushed away.  Whipping her head around in mid-air, she brought her body around to face the ground, reaching out towards it with all of her limbs.  With a muted thud, Jean landed on all-fours, the muscles in her arms and legs acting like shock-absorbers as she bent her knees and elbows to take some of the energy from the fall.

Standing back up on her hind paws, Jean stared at her hands for a second, taking-in what she'd just accomplished.

“Yes!” she cheered, punching the air in front of her.  She suddenly became aware of the noise she was making, so with a quick glance around she scanned the area with her golden eyes and pointed ears, searching for any sign that anyone might have heard her.  Just to be safe, she started jogging back to her car, leaping forward with a giggle into galloping on all-fours.  Pulling up at her parking spot, Jean took the key out of the velcro pocket on her arm-band and unlocked her car, quickly grabbing her sweatpants, sweatshirt, and sunglasses.  Putting them on, she made sure her tail sat above the waistband of her pants, and carefully kept it to the side as she got in her car and prepared to go back home.  It flicked back and forth contentedly in the passenger seat as she sighed to herself, her ears folding back against the top of her head.

“That was a successful test.”

Great story! Would have been interesting what would have happened if she had a couple more days before she changed back if she would have started thinking and acting more feline.

That was actually the plan for the next continuing series.

Go to the channel on youttube "Smarter every day" and checkout his piece on how cats land on their feet. A small re-write with that info will knock this out of the park.
