This is gorgeous, the depth of field is actually killing me. Are there rules to follow obtain this kind of effect ? Because sometimes when looking at background like this one I can see the difference of distances between objects, and in other drawing, it's like there's no difference, just 2d drawing on a paper and I don't understand what produce this effect.

hm one thing you can do is working with the outlines. The more its in the distance the thinner the outlines get. Also the amount of detail ist really important. The texture has to be more detailed thr further you go away. And for the landscape for itself: its a thing I learned from just looking in the distance when I'm outside. You pick some impotant views where you can tell those really look perspective. It's a lot of practise but worth it in the end ^^

Yeah truely worth it. I can see that, thanks for the tip about the outlines, I heard about it but never put it in use. But by using bigger outlines for close like characters (like Steve here) who is just in first line of the drawing, I can see that you used bigger outlines by moment on him but isn't there a risk that you lost accuracy and details on him by doing that ? Is the character supposed to have all his lines on him bigger or only the edge and biggest part of him ?

again there are different styles ^^ you can make the outer lines thicker than the inner or you thicken the ones that are in a shadow. There are many other methods to use the outlines.
And for the loose of detail: As an artist you have to try different types until you can say that this is the one you want. The outlines for him are a bit thicker than the ones in the background but in general they are thin enough to not disturb the detail ^^
