I'm a tomboy and lesbian, but this stereotype is fucking stupid, along with assuming all tomgirls (what I believe is the word for guys who act feminine) are gay. I have tomboyish friends who are straight, so...

(I realize this is an old ass stamp, but I had to post after reading the stamp itself and the comments).
Wow, fellow tomboy here, and I must say these kids must have be doing it wrong.
I’ll just assume all commenters and the contributor were young, uncultured little morons at the time. I’ll give you all the benefit of the doubt. Except when it comes to all your xenophobic, anti-LGBT views on the matter.
Enjoy my rant ~
Being a tomboy, and/or a lesbian (fem or butch) for that matter, doesn’t equate to short hair, gruff mannerisms, and male focused interests. It could be an internal attitude, like in my case, which in some instances may rarely bleed into your surface. It may also mean you take little care of your appearance, keep a pixie cut, and wear hunting jackets. Or it could be a little mix of all of it like, I dunno, EVERYTHING. Maybe tomboy means you wear cut-up man jeans and pink, frilly shirts. Maybe it means wearing dresses and playing every sport your town offers. Maybe it means having pixie cuts and huge, gold hoop earrings.
Also, if someone calls you a lesbian for being a tomboy, it means the’re a god damn, stupid stereotyper! By perpetrating that stereotype onto a stamp and the comments, you all become the same thing.
I also love the bitches getting angry at people standing up for lesbians in this case. Makes me so proud to be a tomboy.
Oh, and if you were/are one of the tomboys getting offended at people calling you a lesbian, then you’re not a real tomboy. It’s probably time you hang up your plaid shirt and put on a dress. (This change might even stop the taunting for you jr. stereotypes).
Seriously though, were tomboys always pissy, sexist little assholes? So much damn internalized misogyny! Maybe they were better when I was younger.

tl;dr: This stamp and the comments are so painful that I’m already ordering Vicodin. If sexism, xenophobia, and stupidity were your goal, then you all hit the mark,

Tomboy - A female who likes to look like, act like and/or be like a boy. This can include wearing clothing
normally worn by boys, or playing with "boys' toys."
Lesbian - A female who likes/loves another female in a romantic way
Just because you wear polo tops and baggy capris doesn't mean you're in love with another woman.

Really? What does the way you dress or act have anything to do with your sexuality? I find it rather annoying and dumb for people to suggest that your a lesbian just because you act boyish not only that but it's very stereotypical. I wouldn't consider myself a tomboy but I know for one thing I'm not really girly either.

Why be offended and mad about being called a lesbian?

Well think about it.
You are acting offended that someone said you liked the same gender. Why be offended? What's the point, it isn't bad, even if they are wrong why take the time to go.
OMG U SICKO I DON'T LIEK GIRLS!!!11!!!
I mean I would be a little annoyed if I saw a gay person get offended because someone thought he/she was straight.
Liking the same or opposite gender is not wrong and many know that so why act like being called gay is as bad as getting a death threat.
To be honest I should ask where 'you' got the mentality of acting all offended because someone said you liked girls.
It's pretty dumb and there are worse things to get offended by....

EverLastingLuv In reply to mortified-Archie [2014-10-16 21:50:27 +0000 UTC]
It's not that it's offensive, it just gets super annoying for people to assume that you're gay just because of the way you act and/or dress in public. You even said in your response "I mean I would be little annoyed..." And believe me, none of us are saying OMG U SICKO I DON'T LIEK GIRLS!!!11!!!. It's a little redundant for you to assume we're saying that.
The whole point is, it's incredibly fucking annoying for people to ask "Are you a lesbian?" just because you're a tomboy. It's like if you're a tomboy, there's no way you're straight. No fucking way. And that's incredibly irritating. Especially if you have to deal with it and not have an anger burst.
And this is why.
If we say it gets annoying for people to call us gay, people like you get all offended by it and think we're homophobes. That's annoying too. The reason why we freak out is because it's just so goddamn annoying! It's like people assuming you're a child abuser for freaking out over a crying baby. The more you hear it and have to deal with it, the more angry and annoyed you'll get. So is the case with this particular topic. No one here is homophobic. And if they are, who cares? You can't change assholes.

mortified-Archie In reply to EverLastingLuv [2014-10-16 22:39:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I am sure it's annoying but it isn't really that much of a big deal, most people turn one basic remark into a flipping mountain. Like come on.
Think of it realistically.
Did the person call you a slut?
Did the person hit you?
Did the person threatened to rape you?
What did they say?
Asked if you were a lesbian because you wear jeans? (And probably wasn't even focusing on your clothes, maybe just generally curious....No one gives a damn what you wear at the end of the day.)
Well...How bad is that to a scale of ten? 3 compared to the ones I listed.
Oh I am jumping to conclusions?
'If someone even CALLS ME A LESBIAN FOR BEING A TOMBOY.
I WILL SMACK THEM UPSIDE THE MOTHER FUDGING SKULL'
Yeah....My comment was totally no where near facts.
Well there are things you have to deal with. I hate telling the same people again and again why I am home schooled and I am tired of people moaning about my sense of humour or how I state my opinions.
Life isn't easy and there are some things you can't change and have to deal with.
I been called a lesbian all the time and yeah, I was annoyed then I pondered the remark for a while and said.
What's so bad about being a lesbian? Do I really want to live my life being easily insulted/annoyed over petty remarks.
No.
I am not offended over your reaction....I just think you are being over dramatic and making a big deal out of nothing.
Aw a person you will never see again asked you a question about your sexuality boo hoo!
I am also not saying you were homophobic, it just makes you a little bit rude and ignorant for getting all stroppy due to someone calling you a lesbian or asking if you are one.
I been asked MANY weird and annoying questions some frequently asked than others and I don't lose my shit over it, I just tell them simply.
No.
Yes.
That's all you have to do...Beside the person who asked the question probably isn't trying to be mean maybe they are a little bit naïve or say things before they think them through properly.
That's all.
Imagine how they feel when they burted out a question without thinking and now gifted with the eyes of death from the person they asked.
Just something to think about, not everyone is trying to be mean, some people are just a little bit uneager to think things through....
Everyone bump into these type of people, it's annoying but it's not the end of the world.

Sounds to me like you're more offended than you say we are. The list you gave me makes no sense as far as this conversation goes. Did they rape me? Come on, seriously? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. We're not talking about traumatic events, so don't pull the fucking rape card. I know you know better than that. Plus, I'm not sleeping around with tons of different people so they wouldn't call me a slut.
Lol you obviously never have to deal with this as much as most of us do. On the scale of one to ten as far as how annoying it is, I'd say an 8. Like I said, the more people have to deal with it, the more they're gonna blow up. Just like a crying baby. You're taking way too much offense. I know gay girls that wouldn't give a shit about what that girl said.
Yeah I know there are things that we have to deal with, and that's one of them. At this point you're just rambling on.
Homeschooled? What the hell does that have to do with anything exactly? I personally don't give a damn about you're "sense of humor" but you seem to give a damn that I find the question "Are you a lesbian" annoying. Hmm...ironic isn't it?
Right, life isn't easy! I know that. I deal with it. Some people have a harder time, but I don't. You seem to have a hard time accepting other people's opinions.
Normally, kids at school called me a lesbian. I think a blatant statement like that is different than a question. But you can still be fucking annoyed by something without it affecting your life.
How am I being over dramatic? You're not paying attention to anything I'm saying. You keep saying "What's so wrong about being a lesbian?" while over and over again I say the same thing. NOTHING IS WRONG. It's just annoying. You keep thinking I'm offended by being asked if I'm a lesbian. I'm NOT. I just think it's again, annoying. You must have a very thick skull if you think that annoying and offense are the same thing.
Boohoo? What is this, the first grade? And you said that I'm the one being ignorant. Wow. Like I said, I don't give a DAMN. It's just ANNOYING. How many times do I have to use that same fucking word with you? You're the only one out of the two of us who is offended. I'm just telling you that the more you hear it, the more annoying (ANNOYING) it is.
You finally used that word! YES! THANK YOU GOD!
Yes it IS annoying! But like I said, I DEAL WITH IT. Some people don't as well as others because they deal with it more than I do.

First off. Read my fucking posts PROPERLY.
Three times you misread my comment THREE times.
1: When I said 'I would be a little annoyed' you took it the wrong way, allow me to copy and paste it for you again.
I mean I would be a little annoyed if I saw a gay person get offended because someone thought he/she was straight.
I was saying if someone asked a gay person that in general not because his/her style of clothes made them think that.
2: I didn't use the 'rape card' let my copy and paste it AGAIN!
Think of it realistically.
Did the person call you a slut?
Did the person hit you?
Did the person threatened to rape you?
THREATENED
There is a difference between DOING something and threatening to do something.
Also you don't have to sleep around for people to call you a slut, people can call a virgin a slut if they wanted to.
3: I was using the home schooling and sense of humour as an example. They are equally annoying as being asked if you were gay. But just because it is annoying doesn't mean you have to be a total bitch to the person who asked you, like come on.
And if they call you that then do this magical thing called ignoring them or just allow the comments to go over your head. What those people want is a reaction, if you have a little hissy fit and stomp your feet about then you are just giving them joy.
Do you want that?
Also there are worse things to get angry at, being called a lesbian is a flipping pin prick compared to some shit being said to some people.
Why don't you toughen up and stop getting overly irritated over small things.

Calling someone something they aren't, doesn't help the cause. That is all I am saying. (It really doesn't.)
Most girls who call me a Lesbian for being a Tomboy (Well half in my case because I do like some girly things and have medium hair.) are jealous or want to keep guys away from me.
I would rather people ask if I was before being labeled one, the same with all other things considered labels. (Because every single label slapped on me, excluding ones that I call myself have all been wrong.)

2. Well you didn't use "for example". I even checked. Want me to copy and paste? I will.
3. Lol I wasn't bitching. What got me to bitch was you not paying attention to what you're reading.
I do. Again, you don't listen. In this case, read. And actually, you're the one who came on this stamp and tried to make the issue a way bigger deal than it really is. So you shouldn't be talking.
Hey you finally get it.
I never said it was the actual action. And if I did it was a typo. I said you pulled the rape card.
You don't accept anything kindly obviously because you're the one not paying attention to what you're reading.

1: Well if you agree with me then why the hell are we arguing? Why did you ask how I got this mentality? We both disapprove at a person reaction for being asked if they are straight/gay.
2: Again don't start the little YOU CAN'T READ OR PAY GOOD ENOUGH ATTENTION LAWL bull you made a selection of mistakes, you want me to list them out for the hundredth time?
Well I was giving the person my two cent.
The difference between my comment and your own, I didn't say I didn't give a damn unlike yourself.
I wanted to express my opinion so I expressed it....You are the one going 'well it doesn't bother me....But I am going to rant and complain anyway.'
And I made a bigger deal of it? You are the one who reduced to name calling.
And the rape thing was not a typo you are making excuses now especially obvious with you accusing me that I don't pay attention, in some of your comments you clearly don't pay attention either.
You are just trying to swerve my point out to your errors and aim them at me instead.
Very mature sweetie.

1. We started arguing because you keep taking what I say the wrong way.
2. Well clearly you aren't.
I don't give a shit what people say to me, but some people have a bigger deal with it than others. See, you really don't pay attention. Plus, YOU'RE the one telling me I came onto the post to rant. But really, you're the one who was doing just that. Thinking people have a problem with lesbians because they don't like to be called one is ludicrous.
Yeah...you did. I only called you a tard. And that's because you didn't pay close enough attention to what I was saying. But hey! It got your full attention didn't it? Lol.
Yeah anyone who says the opposite of what you're saying is making excuses I know how it works. But seriously, everyone is getting sick of people like you using rape as an excuse to not be mad at something. It's very offensive and insulting.
You're the one trying to swerve my point out to your errors, but I guess you can't be wrong in anything. Hell no. Heaven forbid.
I thought that I would be talking to someone who was a lot smarter and, dare I say, knows how to read, but I guess my expectations were too high. Have a nice life sweetie. And have fun making a smaller issue bigger than it has to be.

I did read them properly.
1. Yeah it IS annoying. God damn.
2. Um yeah that IS the rape card. Using rape as any excuse or defense is using the rape card. This conversation has nothing to do with rape.
And yeah that's the exact definition of slut! What else does slut mean? If you sleep around with tons of different people, you're a slut. Not only a slut, but a whore. End of story. Wanna sleep around with tons of different people and possibly get an STD or AIDS? You're a slut.
3. I never once said I threw a hissy fit you tard. I said and I quote "I don't give a DAMN." But SOME people have to deal with it more than others so they find it a lot more annoying. Never once did I say that I'm gonna hit them or throw a fit. I said, again, I don't give a damn! You cannot read can you?
Yeah you're the one who needs to toughen up little girl. And learn to fucking read. When I say that I don't give a shit, then I don't give a shit. It doesn't stop it from being annoying though. The thing I find more annoying than being called a lesbian all the time, is dealing with a teenager who can't read.

1: I am annoyed at the gay persons reaction to the question, not the other way round.
I am just saying that just in case you mistaken my comment again, if you agreed with what I just stated this conversation was completely pointless as we would both technically agree with each other.
2: It was an example that there are worse things you could be called than being asked or called a lesbian.
Is it that hard to understand? I swear I used the sentence 'for example' before saying it and before the home school one too.
3: Well by your comments you sound incredibly pissed and do care....If it annoyed you and provoked you to go on this stamp and bitch about it and get shirty with me then obviously the question hit a nerve.
If you didn't give a damn you would shrug it off and move on....Not find this stamp and moan about it
Clearly I am too dumb to realize that venting out hate for something or someone is a sign you don't care......
I need to learn to read? Erm, I am not the one who thought 'threatened to rape you' was the actual action and I didn't ignore the fact that the home schooling and the sense of humour comment was an example.
Don't start turning your errors on me sweetie because I don't accept that shit kindly.
