Description I like this one. I basically had to stick the lens inside the flower to take it.

Beautiful colours, although there doesnt seem to be a point of focus/sharpness in the photo.

lol Too many people mention this. The point of focus is in the middle of the stem, or the middle of the picture. It is a strange place though. It could also appear as though there is a loss of focus because of the amount of image quality loss during its various exportations.

Well a few more suggestions now:

1. When focusing on anything (in photography), remember that the focus point allows 1/3 in front and 2/3s behind the point of focus, so when taking a photograph like this, focus halfway up the stamen, then you will get a lot more of the stem in focus
2. With images on your computer, always keep a "master" copy that you do not touch. Instead, when you go to edit an image, make a copy of it, and store it somewhere else. This way you can always go back to the original or work from a previously worked image.

1. I was quite happy with the way the focus turned out. What happened was the effect I was after. I know of others who have done the same thing. Only the photographer themself can understand the motive behind the strange focusing.

2. I NEVER touch my originals. I'm scared to mess them up! Plus it's not like I don't have enough HDD space.

I was trying for the back of the flower actually. I don't think it would have made quite an impact if it was based on the stem.

That is nice, but alot of it is out of focus, this can be a problem with close ups and is hard to avoid. I would suggest woking on focusing, but if you were trying for the back of the flower, it worked, a usefull way to reduce blur is to back off and then zoom in. That is just my way of doing things, it is a good focus in the back though.

Thanks a heap. The colours weren't actually that bright to start off with -- it was quite dark, actually. But then Zeyus made me change the levels a bit.
