This is a lovely shell to take a photograph of, however there are a few things that dont sit will with the photograph:
1. The photo is cropped too tightly, whether this is because of distractions or just a composition choice, there isnt an apparent reason why you would crop so close
2. Their appears to be a lack of sharpness in this photo, or that the focus is just off the edge of the photo
3. The lighting on this shell might have been better had you moved to take the photo from the other side, or moved the shell slightly.

1. The fact the shell was cropped tightly was my choice. I thought it suited it... a bit, although this definitely isn't everyone's style. I also have another photo (with a better subject) that is cropped a lot, but not too much; or so I think.
2. Whatever's happened there, it shouldn't have.
3. I'm really regreting taking it from this angle now. My back was to the water, and the sun was in the same place it is in le beach (le beach was taken a few minutes before). But when I think about the results of the other angles I could have taken, I should have taken it from the other side. The lighting would have been much better then.
I very much appreciate your critique.

When you see something that catches your eye and you take a photograph of it, take the time to change positions a few more times and take a few more photographs. I've sometimes found that the "other" photographs i've taken have had more of an artistic merit than the one that actually caught my eye.

Yeah I would have done that, but I was walking back to the people I was there with. Not enough time, you see?

Mmm. I like this one! Perhaps you could experiment by upping the contrast a little?

There is lots of detail in this photo. I'm not sure what it is, maybe the colouring is a little dull? But something just seems to take a bit away from it...
Try tweaking a few things maybe?
Interesting subject though, shells and sand are cool!

Yeah I might play around with the orginal a bit; I think this one was just cropped, with no enhancements. Plus I think it's possible that it might have a bit of shadow on it? I know the original one did.

Hmm, where did the shadow come from?
I like playin with some photos even if I dont like how they turn out, sometimes you can get awesome results.

The shadow came from me. The sun was behind me.
