Sounds really interesting, though not this year. I'm really busy with school and real life I don't think I could write 50000 words in a month. Maybe next year.

Yays!! Let me know when you've finished.

Like I said, next year. And do I have to write an original novel or a fanfiction? Because I can't think up a story right off the bat. :/ It takes me a while to get going. Would be awesome to enter and write...

Some people get 50k on the first day. (Then again, they're crazy.)

It's generally an original novel, though there is a section for fanfiction.

...Okay, I just checked- Fanfiction's fine. (though even nonfiction's fine, but that would make you a NaNo Rebel xD)

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-11-16 03:04:58 +0000 UTC]

Really? I can do about four or five thousand words on a good day with a good muse and a few hours. But 50k in one day...?

Oh, thank goodness. Because fanfiction is what I can do, but original works would need a lot of work.

And I don't do much nonfiction. I don't like it too much, but I do like nonfiction elements in fiction (like legitimate historical references or proper procedures for things). Thanks for telling me about it! I'll do it next year and I'll let you read a copy.

Yes, really. though they usually can't keep up the pace. xP

Also, thank you.

ALSO I GOT INTO TRIPLE SCIENCE 8D (and I'm doing research on synesthesia because I'm interested in it. Do you know anything about it?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-11-23 21:22:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, if they could I would think of them as some kind of superhuman! (or that their muses were holding them hostage).

Thank you? For what?

OH YEAH!! And sorry, I don't know much about synesthesia, but Wikipedia can tell you a lot for basic information, and then I'll make a list of websites you can visit that can help. Wiki article: [link] And an article from MIT [link] That should get you started, I think. And from the little bit that I read, synesthesia is the condition where stimulation of one sense stimulates another. Like smelling grass and tasting grass when eating an apple, or something like that. Hope that helps you.

Kateness is still aiming for a 1,000,000 word count by the end of November, though. xP

For... -goes back up to check- Thanks for saying you would let me read what you'll write if you participate in NaNo?

It is, but it's so much more! Synesthesia is also the ability to see sounds and taste words. In a word, awesome. (wonder what that would taste like? xD Apparently 'jail' tastes of bacon. Cold, hard bacon, but... bacon.)

Also- THANK YOU FOR THE LINKS

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-11-24 16:58:55 +0000 UTC]

That's impressive. O_o The max amount of text I've ever written for a story was around 40,000 (which is my current GBDS that's going to be four books long).

Of course! You shall read it when I get my aft around to writing it (school, games, little things called life...)

Hmm... Maybe I should conduct my own experiments into synesthesia. I'll tell you what a word tastes like if I ever experience it. Jail... Doesn't taste like bacon to me, but I'll have to have other people verify that.

You're very welcome!

Ack! Sorry for not repkying for so long (I've been writing like a madman, my fingers are sore and it literally hurts to type this ;_

I was pretty sure that synesthesia is somthing that you were born with, though. (Or it might develop. I'm not sure.) Sounds having shapes and colours is pretty cool too (Synesthesia covers a lot)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-11-28 04:38:29 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's okay. Must be hard to write that much especially with the deadline so close.

I think synesthesia is something all humans have, but is slightly different from person to person. Like jail tastes like bacon to one person, while another says it tastes like spagehtti.

And I don't know, but does playing Spore and tasting cranberries as you play count as synesthesia?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-11-28 11:23:09 +0000 UTC]

...That's not a category of synesthesia that's official, but that is definitely possible. Visual input converted to sounds. Does it always happen?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-11-28 14:45:42 +0000 UTC]

I don't see how. Visual input is light and sound input is vibrations on the air. I don't see how... Wait, light travels both as a wave and a particle, meaning it's energy, yet it could also be felt by "vibration." That could explain it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-03 13:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Sorry again for the late reply! I wouldn't know for sure sicne I don't know much about biology yet, but if certain sounds can trigger visual stimulation, then why not the oppo- *reads back*

Whoa. Sorry! I was tired that day and completely lost track of things (I did end NaNo with 200k though ) and I mentioned visual to sound for no real reason... o_o I meant visual to taste. The spore and cranberries thing. Does that always happen?

Also, I think it would have more to do with how your brain perceived the patterns. The brain flips the image that the eye sees upside down, right? If the pathways in the brain overlap then it could also convert the image to something else, like a taste or an internal sound. That sort of thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-09 03:59:50 +0000 UTC]

It's okay. And you'll do fine in biology, though I recommend stopping by your library and picking up a few books on it. Nothing text book wise! Just like a twenty or thirty page small book on basic bio. It helped me a lot when I was younger (and the basis is giving me a 95 average in my Advanced Placement Biology class!)

And that is when I will have to read it. (Holy frag, 200k in one month!? O_o!) And I think the visual to taste is because of certain traits we associate with various things. The Spore and cranberries thing was because whenever I played Spore, I had a cup of dried cranberries with me. So I'd munch on them while playing. It got to the point that when I played Spore, my mouth anticipated the cranberries and I tasted them while playing.

Somehow, I doubt that any pathway in the brain overlaps another, but I could be wrong. Different sections of your brain translate the information your senses perceive. Have a look and get back to me on that one. (Like how the back of your brain translates the images from your eyes.)

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-12 02:36:46 +0000 UTC]

I'll definitely have to do some reading up, yeah, considering that everyone in my class is likely to have some advanced tutoring or the other. Plus I don't havea base founation on Bio to start with, yet. It's like my physics. I have the basics, and I know the advanced stuff, and a very large portion in the mi9ddle is missin g and as such it's hard for me to understand the advanced stuff. I'd wait for school to teach me, but I'm too impatient for that, so if you know any website where I could start myself on an education in physics, chemistry and biology I would appreciate it if you could tell me

Kateness did manage her 1 million, which is five times more than my word coutn, but yeah, I'm pretty happy about it nonetheless. Plus I'm off to the NaNo TGIO (Thank Goodness It's Over) party later today. Fun. Well, I hope.

And okay, yeah, I prbably phrased that badly, though I do remember reading something similar to that somewhere; the problem is that I can't remember quite where so it doesn't matter./ It's an interesting phenomena nonetheless. Wikipedia says that the stimulation of one cognitive pathway triggers an involuntary experience in a second, different pathway.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-12 02:47:46 +0000 UTC]

[link] For your basic bio needs. It should give you everything you need to know to get ahead. [link] A twin website about Physics [link] And this one for chemistry. Tell me if you do well, okay?

Impressive really. 1 One million...? Enjoy the Nano TFIO party.

Ah. Okay, I think I understand. My brother has a heart condition where one of his nerves is acting as a secondary pathway. A single nervous pathway to his heart makes it beat regularly, but he has a second pathway that could cause his heart to beat too fast if triggered (but we're not entirely sure how its triggered). Sound similar?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-15 00:42:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the links! I'll try them when I have time. Sorry for the late reply, also. (I completely forgot to ask, I think, so I'll ask now- Do you have a GoogleWave account, and if not do you want an invitation?)

TGIO was fuuun. I got a trophy!

D: it does sound rather similar. Does it happen a lot? If it does it's probably sound or visual stimuli. Of course, there are rare sounds and all, but just as a general rule, if it happens more often then chances are it's from either visual or sound stimuli. Less often would be taste, smell, and touch. I don't think it's touch since it would be pretty obvious that that was the trigger (unless it's caused from a certain material shirt or something) and taste would be equally obvious, but smells can be rather subtle.

Or it could be an allergy of some sort?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-19 20:34:30 +0000 UTC]

Nah, it's okay. Real Life has a habit of taking its time when annoying people. (What is GoogleWave? I have a Gmail...)

Great!!

No, thankfully it doesn't happen a lot. It was only when my brother and mom noticed that his heart was beating as though he was running a triathlon while sitting still. But I was using the condition as an analogy, and it's not an allergy since he's apparently had this his entire life but it hasn't bothered him until we started noticing.

Oh, okay.

Anyway, I'm starting on that prompt you gave me now and I'll be off to review your GBDS story now. (I only just realised that I forgot to review it )

Oh! If you haven't read it yet, I would recommend reading Masks. [link] The story is great. Especially in the later chapters. The way the plot is handled and such is just amazing. And I actually like the OCs. As in really like them. That's a first. I usually don't like OCs.

Yays!! Let me know when you have it finished, please. (XD I wonder what would happen if Starscream and Ratchet were put in the same room... )

And I've read Masks. It is a great story. And our opinions on OCs are pretty much in tandem. OCs in general are a no-no, but there are exceptions to every rule.

Okay, it's watch?v= p6pgxLaDdQw, with a space between the = and the p else it'd make a smiley. >>

GoogleWave cannot be described with words as measly as "IM" and "facebook". It's a pretty good approximation is all. (Personally I think it's a good writing tool. xP)

I will. (I suppose the Autobot base would explode? Or people would avoid the place and either Ratch or Screamer would eventually run out of energon. And stop mid-rant. Then the other would start ranting about stopping mid-rant?)

I love Fangface and Deathwheels. Don't know why. I just do. >> Epic characters. (Oh, and the nebulan guy whose name I can't remember right now. I like Nebulans. The way the Nebulans are depicted in the comic Defiance is pure win. Probably because they resemble something reptilian, which reminds me of dragons, and dragons are pure win. >>

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-20 03:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Okay, the links work. Point... But I don't know if it would be worth it to have a Google Wave. I don't have a lot of friends outside the Internet I want to meet.

Nah. The Base wouldn't explode if Ratchet and Starscream were in a sound-proof room. Though I think you would be able to hear the conversation in New York. And of course they'd never stop ranting. This is Ratchet and Starscream we're talking about.

XD I haven't gotten that far, but Fangface is already made of epic win.

As in you don't know who Deathwheels is yet, or you don't know any Nebulans yet? Anyway, orry! >< What chapter are you at? So I can avoid spoling you or anything?

But all the equipment would short out from the noise, and if Wheeljack was there... >__>

...So I just had this mental image of Ratchet fixing his own vocal processor when it shorts out, and continuing ot rant while doing it.

xDD I can just imagine him death glaring while he uses holomatter projectors to have extra hands so he can rant faster. Or carry on three rants at the same time. And an extra one over comm. xD

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-20 06:10:57 +0000 UTC]

Let's see. Fandom says he works on only one patient at a time and has First Aid, Wheeljack, Grapple, and Hoist as sort of semi-medics who can take care of less dire injuries.

Still, he'd be the master of multitasking just to keep his medbay running after a battle.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-20 06:13:46 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I don't watch G1 And hence I don't know much abotu the G1 fandom... But yeah. Keep the medbay working. Ultimate multitasking there. (Well, one mech has a ton of circuitry and such, so it's be quite a task to keep a mech functioning if he was severely injured. Or a femme for that matter.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-20 06:16:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not just G1. Ratchet still has to take care of the most hurt first and leave the ones not immediately dying to wait with others taking care of them.(Doesn't matter who. He'd have to work quickly to make sure that the mech/femme's spark in question is stabilized before working on the rest of the body. The lucky thing for the bots is that they can survive with a few missing limbs until a spare comes in.)

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-20 06:29:19 +0000 UTC]

In a war, there can be several mechs that are all in a critical state at the same time... I honestly wonder what he'd do then. It might be possible to isolate the spark chamber, depending on what the spark needs in order to survive (Personally I think as long as the spark chamber isn't damaged, the mech would be fine. And the memory core, I suppose.)

I've only watched the G1 movie, Transformers: Cybertron, and the latest series of movies. Revenge of the Fallen and all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-31 00:41:05 +0000 UTC]

True, but I still think he has other people to help him a la Wheeljack, First Aid, etc., and from what I understand it's very hard to isolate a spark. (Well, keeping the memory core is nice and all, but memories and personalities can be replaced).

Well... Youtube and the Internet in general is an awesome place for this reason only.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thelarion In reply to AnonFirefly [2009-12-31 11:47:41 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah, but sometimes there are more casualties than the available help (I suppose at that point it would be about who was the most critically injured, and tactically speaking who was the most important.)

Noo, the internet is great for stealing my sanity, too!

...what?

Insanity is a good thing.

Incidentally, did you get my note?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AnonFirefly In reply to Thelarion [2009-12-31 14:56:10 +0000 UTC]

That would be very bad and it's probably the reason why Ratchet says "Don't get yourself slagged or so help me I will threaten you to make you stop being stupid." He's got a big spark, though he won't say it out loud.

Insanity makes the world go round!! Normalcy would make it flat.

Hi! You know that fic I promised you? With the prompt you gave me? "Let me tell you something. The three scariest bots on the Ark are: An angry Optimus, a pissed-off Ratchet, and a smiling Prowl."

Well, okay, first, it's turning out to be MUCH longer than I anticipated (Honestly I expected it to be a 1k or so words... You know, a short.) but apparently, it isn't. I'm no done with it yet, but I will be soon (probably tomorrow). Since it's Christmas today, though, it shall be a christmas present of sorts. I'm posting it up chapter by chapter on FF.net. It's planned to have 3 chapters. So you can start reading. Here's the link:

[link]

Um... yeah. I had fun with it and will continue having fun with it. It's not very good, but I'm a little rushed, sorry It's Christmas, and I wanted to finish the first chapter at least by the end of today so it could be considered a Christmas present.

Anyway, Merry Christmas.

Of course!! Now you're learning!! Though the bots may not use those parts out of respect, the Cons will take full advantage of any spare parts lying around. Still, I think that this far into the war, Ratchet will take any parts he can get his claws on.

Swerve has a pretty interesting description, nonetheless. His head's different from Sideswipe's too. They ought to give him his own mold, his decription goes:
"Swerve is highly intelligent, though you wouldn’t know it to watch him drive. His duties as a metallurgist and fabricator for the Autobots expose him to a lot of toxic chemicals, which his circuits have been constantly exposed to for years. He has trouble holding a straight line as a result. The other Autobots prefer to keep him far away from battle, since he aims about as well as he drives."

Yeah, it took me a while to get that
