Illustration for a story I'm working on else-where. It'd take too long to explain, so I won't.On another point, check out that background. I actually made a conscious effort to make it not look like crap. Actually, I was so happy with it when I was done that I almost didn't want to throw the merdragon over top of it.

They're actually circuit markings. The dragon comes from the digital world. Normally the markings are all glowy, but she's just been ripped from her own reality and awakened in this one, which doesn't have any electrical power to feed off of. Thus, dull markings.

Oh, is there a reason for her markings to be the way they are? Is she ridden by someone normally?

No, no reason or rider. When I was first asked to draw her (the character isn't mine, the story is a colab work) that was the markings I made up for her. It's, I'm sure, a result of the fact that I live on a horse farm and her head is horse-shaped.
