Description An Art Nouveau themed depiction of Sakura as Persephone from AngeLhearteD's 'Quietus' on Fanfiction.net.
Originally this was going to be drawn as an anime styled Sakura with an Art Nouveau themed background, but, typically, that changed whilst I was drawing it.

Also, this picture was originally intended to be submitted with no colour, however, considering how unrecognisable Sakura is, I figured colour was needed - as such I have gone over a copy of the original as a water-colour.
I apologise for the lack of finesse in the painting.
Also for the bad scan and the bad quality paper -all I had =/

Most important (arguably) in this painting (?) is the symbolism of the flowers. I have drawn them intentionally after having researched the meanings behind each.

I will write the flowers supposed to be in this picture, but for various reasons you may not either recognise or be able to see them properly, or alternatively for one reason or another they may have not been drawn in (however, I think that was only one).
As such I will list the flowers used and their attributed meanings.

Poppy - Fantastic Extravagance, not actually in the picture for anything other than the reason that I like it and was used in a painting I used as a reference. (Although, considering the apparant opulance of the Underworlds palace...perhaps it does indeed have a place?)

(Please note, I have not intentionally copied anything within this artwork from another, I used reference material to familiarise myself with the drawing style, and to a limited extent draw inspiration from only. Any similarities to another artwork viewed is not deliberate, and highly unlikely...if only because I significantly lack the skill.)

Cinquefoil - Beloved Daughter

Persimmon - Bury me amidst natures' beauty

Chamomile - Energy in adversity (was drawn in the original, but rather obscured by subsequent scans and the paint)

Anemone - Forsaken

Peach Blossom - I am your captive

Cherry Blossom - Impermanence

Daisy - Innocence (in the same boat as Chamomile, although they were practically identical anyway)

Camellia - My destiny is in your hands

Pomegranate - Foolishness

Phlox - Our souls are united

Lotus - Purity

Water Lily - Purity of Heart

There may be slight (?) deviations in meanings depending on different sources - I used 'The Language of Flowers A Miscellany' by Mandy Kirkby and Vanessa Diffenbaugh. I in no way claim their work as my own.

Constructive criticism is welcome...although I am probably aware of all the mistakes in the work already.
Regardless, for the few who may wander onto this page, please tell me what you think and feel free to leave any advice you feel may be helpful

Hi, this is AngeLhearteD!

I thought I'd come straight here rather than replying on Fanfiction.net, because I'm just so eager to feed back to you! May I first start with thanking you so much for taking the time to create something for my story! I'm so flattered and honoured that my writing has inspired you so. Thank you!

Now onto the drawing; AMAZING. The symbolism, the softness of the colours, the background, and THE DRESS. I just love that Greek-styled dress! And Sakura's general stance. I can tell you've done your research and that is what makes this piece really stand out. It's a work of art, and I love the messages the different flowers convey, and your inclusion of the forbidden fruit makes this all the more powerful. Wonderful, just wonderful! I'd really love to see a similar Sasuke themed one, with him holding onto a blossom petal/stalk as a symbol of his 'possession' of Sakura, but that's just wishful me ruing the fact that I cannot draw to save my life! I shall treasure this and would like to thank you profusely again for this beautiful contribution. With your permission I'd like to link to it on my profile page at Fanfiction. This deserves so many more comments, and I wish I could fill pages for you! A really lovely piece of artwork and a lovely surprise too, thank you! <3

Wow! That was a really quick response, but I am really happy you liked it - I was slightly worried you wouldn't >.<

I'm glad you enjoyed the symbolism and the dress- those were my favourite parts to draw, I digressed on how to draw her clothes for ages.

A Sasuke designed one may come in the future, but unfortunately no promises as I'll be a bit busier from now on and won't have so much time to draw.

Thankyou for responding so quickly and telling me what you think, and I'd be honoured if you linked this to your profile page on Fanfiction.

Of course I like it. In fact that's an understatement, I love it! xD

The dress is very Greek and definitely close to what I had in mind for Sakura's new wardrobe.

I absolutely do understand about being busy and was in no way suggesting you actually create a Sasuke one; merely that drawing Sasuke (or any other character fom Naruto, in fact) with symbolism would be an epic thing to see, as most artists just tend to draw his likeness without a meaning behind it.

The honour will be all mine to link to this fabulous piece. Thank you so much again! : )

Well I'm very glad

Oh I did sort've understand what you meant - sorry for the slight misunderstanding, I was really just musing that I would really love to draw Sasuke in the same type of fashion (I would probably enjoy deciding what would be drawn immensly), just that regrettably, I don't have as much free time as I would like now and would have to postpone it for a while >.<
