Description PLease PLEASE fullview!

this one looks kind of strange from a distance, but i really like how it looks up close!

Acrylic on Gesso'd paper

This has been my favourite art assignment so far. I had SO much fun painting i can't even describe! We were supposed to experiment with paint and colour (we were ONLY allowed to use primary blue, red, yellow and white- NO BLACK and only mixing of the primaries to create other interesting colours) It was challenging but also liberating. No prep-work or sketching was involved. Its just between you and how you interact with putting paint straight onto the canvas. I made 9 portraits total, but I'll probably only be putting 6 of them onto DeviantARt

my favorite yet. But why is this abstract rather than impressionistic (a word, maybe?)? This one has more control- meaning it is just the right balance between a colorful replica of a self portrait and controlled brushstrokes creating a self portrait. Cheers! (NORM!)

very true! It definitely holds many impressionistic qualities, however the its an abstraction of my face, though a face is still recognizable so its not non-representational....Impressionist painters do have a more controlled brushtroke but doesn't the colour in this piece seem a little absurd to be impressionistic? Although, i am comparing it to 19th century impressionism
and thanks!

This has been a really interesting series you're doing. I think this one is my favorite. Something about the colors is just right, they play nicely off of each other. Really cool work

Very nice! It's interesting how you did it out of spots of colours too - I've been looking at each spot close and from afar and it fascinates me.

This and the first are the ones I like the most. This one kinda looks as if your eyes were closed in deep thought, and I'm loving the texture and the colours.
