Description
Just two fun doodles drawn up during my friend's Taiko practice, and colored up in Prismacolors. This also originally had Uhura (and McCoy's head,) but I didn't like how they were turning out. Ah well. Uhura is finished, though...I really should just upload her anyway.

So cute, I wanna pinch their cheeks. Both would be uncomfortable, though Spock more so.

Motherfuccck.
Well, I'm suppose to write an essay about influential Americans..
So I picked Stephenie Meyer as a negative influence (which somebody in my class is probably going to break my arm for) and I don't exactly know how I should put that..
GUH.
It's frustrating..
So far, I only got:
Stephenie Meyer/Twiligh Series Influence on Society:
Who:
β’ Girls of all ages- the future of this gender has been screwed over
β’ Boys β expectation of being perfect so that girls would pick them.
β’ Idiots- uneducated/misinformed
What:
β’ Feminism-
right back to placing all of your self worth on what men think of you
back to putting up with abusive relationships
back to giving up your education to let a man support you
back to letting said man control every aspect of your life
back to giving up your family and friends for a man
back to simpering pathetic women who can't do anything for themselves
back to only having sex after marriage
back to getting pregnant first time
back to allowing pedophilic relationship between your daughter and your best friend
back to allowing a man to make all your decisions for you
back to no painkillers in childbirth
β’ Love/Relationships- worst thing she has done to her audience, unconditional love, give up everything in life for love, unrealistic relationships, dependence, stalker, pedo, βAn earlier poster said these books taught her all she knows about love. That's what makes these books dangerous. Young girls who have limited or no experience in relationships have no other reference point, and they think this IS love. Meyer is doing them a huge disservice.β
β’ Mormon faith
And I still don't know how exactly to put that into an essay kind of thing. GUH.

I admit, I'm missing the Mormon link, but I've only read a tiny bit of the first book. Everything else sounds pretty darned solid. If you are allowed to use internet resources (of good quality) find some essays that support your points. How long is it supposed to be?
I do know about fun essays like this. My Anthropology degree was earned with the sweat and tears of too many damned essays (almost all written the night before they were due. .)
As I just commented to my Beta: "I think my predilection for using too many "and"s is from the days of "OMG need 4000 word essay on Egyptian Spheres of Influence During Reign of Seti I and I can't think of enough to write START ADDING IN WORDS"" :giggle

Oh man, that sounds PAINFUL.
I hope I can find essays like that..
I've been digging around LJ for those but haven't come up with any other than what's on Fandom Wank. Should I focus her influence mostly on the negative message she sends out to youngsters about love/relationship? Err. Or just use all of them? I want to find more negative ways she affected literature of our generation. I found that: she raped the thesaurus, had terrible charaterization/no character developement, had absolutely no plot, made numerous grammar mistakes, and encouraged a horde of idiots wanting to be the next big author off of trashy teen sexual fantasies.
In case you're interested, here's some LJ links:

If it's supposed to be focused on what makes her influential, I wouldn't focus on the actual writing issues you mentioned above, I would focus on content. One is a book report, the other is a sociological discussion.
As for your negative message idea, google for some academic journals/articles discussing those issues, link them back to Twilight.

Well, it's not sunrise yet, so I would say keep trying, but that's how I roll. Your brain may not like 4-6am like mine...kinda does.
I'm originally from the Inland Empire (Moreno Valley,) Japan is a temporary thing.

Oooh, that's cool. Hawwwl.
Oh man, my brain is DEFINITELY not functioning right now.
I'm thinking about just fucking the whole Stephenie Meyer thing and doing another person...like John Lennon or something.
Guh.
What do you think?
So you're fluent in Japanese too?

anruiukimi In reply to MrEccentric [2009-09-28 12:07:30 +0000 UTC]
I think you have some fabulous ideas for Stephanie Meyer, but yeah, you may be cutting it a bit close.
If you don't think you can do it, nothing wrong with falling back on another person that's easier to parse.
HAHAHA hardly, I can barely construct a sentence in Japanese. My understanding is soso, though. Speaking it is a different matter. I never study.

*sigh* You're right..
I just wanted my interview video to show the few kids in my school that doesn't agree with Twilight that it's okay to say that they don't like it.
Twitards are RABID. RABID I TELL YOU. I have some in my school.
But even though the vids 5-7 minutes long, my essay is kind of cutting it close.
But I should try.. Thanks again, sweets.

I'm cheering you on, darling! You can do it!

MrEccentric In reply to anruiukimi [2009-09-28 12:30:21 +0000 UTC]
GAH. Now I HAVE to do it since you're cheering me on. XD
I shouldn't go back on my words like that.. :/
(Lawl.. I'm class of 2011 *sigh* I'll be fucking 19 and a half when I graduate.. which sucks ass. I wasn't held back or anything though.)
I just feel that.. well, do you think it's a serious enough subject to be writing an essay and doing a vid about? I really do think media/massive popularity thing really brainwashes young teens these days and I've heard many girls having fucked up convos about how Twilight has changed their view about love and shit for the better. Which is very unrealistic..
[link] I laughed at this.
I can't find any articles on this shit. I might just do the blog sites in my Works Cited page..It's not like my teacher's going to check every site or something. Goddammit, but I need several cited evidence though. Guh. Where the fuck would I find those.. *mumbles to self*

Wow, that's late. Did you just enter Kindergarden late or something? I was 18.5 years when I graduated, and that's usually considered old as well.
I do think it is a serious enough subject, if done right. Many Twilight bashers tend to veer towards the histronics and the outright abuse versus clear discussion, but done right, I think it would be a damn good topic. I mean, Penn is doing a call for papers on the subject, you don't get much more scholarly than that.
Here's an example of an essay going against most of your points, but it might bring on some ideas: [link]
