Description A study portrait. Tried to make the face proportions right, I think I kind of managed. Hope you like it.

I can definitely see improvements here in the coloring from the last images i've seen of yours, so that's really good. I really like the bold coloring you've used on her skin, as well as on her lips.

I think however that the hair still needs a lot of work. Try to think of the hair as having individual 'clumps' or sections, and then fill the sections in with color and maybe a few off strands. One common mistake people do with hair is giving it too many strands and this can cause it to be too detailed and stringy looking, like pasta. It's better to treat hair, especially when still learning, with a more simpler approach because it will usually look a little better. Then as you learn more and get more experienced, you might be able to figure out ways to make the hair more detailed and less cluttered looking. ^^

Also, I notice that her hair line is too low. If you take the mask from her face, her hairline is almost ontop of where her brows would be. The hairline should be about 1-2 inches from the brows typically. I hope this helps you as a guideline.

Her eyes, while having pretty makeup, look too much like they are glass and not real. Natural eyes without makeup usually don't have black, even on the lashes (unless its the pupil xD). The eye 'whites' aren't even a true white, but an off pale pink hue. I suggest next time painting the eye with the base color of the skin and then highlighting it with white or near white (starting with the base skin and then growing lighter), and then add some more pinkish or reddish color near the corners of the eyes. They also lack the inner corner curves (forget what its called, but if you look up tear duct its basically right there).

Something else I note is that while her left (our right) part of the face has a jaw bone, the other side is rounded and it doesn't show as much, if at all.

I think another thing you could do to make this image better would be to add more colors, ie since her hair is blonde, maybe add light purple highlights to it to compliment it and signify shading. In real life, colors are all over the place and things pick up different color based on environment. Maybe try pulling colors from the background you placed and using them to shade parts of the image to make it look more nature. ^^

I hope this advice helped <3

Thanks a lot for this detailed critique! I agree with what you said and next time I will definitely try to make it better. As for the colours I find it so difficult to realise what goes where. Sometimes I look at the real world and I'm like "wow" so many different colours and they all blend so well! But not in my pictures lol

Maybe a color study would be good for you ^^

basically find a photo that has a lot of different colors in it and then study it by sketching it and recreating it, focusing on the colors, why they are there, and how they interact with one another etc.

its purely for personal practice.
