Game art is a little bit alien to me ^^ (don't know how it's made) but these instruments look very real, good job!

Thanks!
Depending on the game, or the game engine, there are some requirements on the input formats but basically game art is made like most digital art - pixeled, painted or modelled. Most modern games need 3D models, these were for an older project that used 2D images for the items in game.

I think you are gifting gamers by including actual detailed representations of the arts in games. Many gamers are underexposed to cultural history.

It's probably different from person to person, and I must admit my interest in culture and history came with age, as teenager I just took note when an article said, "New oldest flute found, estimated to be 28.000 years old"
Now I rather wonder about those who think that music and dance might not have been with humans all the time. I saw some performances where people just clapped their hands and stomped their feet, and it was amazing to watch already - and our voice is a powerful tool, capable of forming a multitude of sounds, so a sort of dancing, clapping/stomping and singing was probably in reach before a full language had shaped.
Recently I saw a performance of japanese artists with a bamboo flute and a drum, and was amazed by the depth of the piece. It took me a while to realize that just this piece could have been performed 1.000 years ago, or 10.000 years ago, maybe longer, because drum and flute are among the oldest instruments that have been found - and people 10.000 years ago would have sat and felt amazed just like I did today.
A while the bard or minstrel was an important character in role playing games, but lately the warrior and the magician took over. Modern culture seems to favor the solution by force, and not the subtle tunes of music.

Beautifully put. You might like Mickey Heart's (drummer for the Grateful Dead) book Drumming at The Edge of Magic. One book on the role of drumming in ancient religion that blew me away was by Layne Redmond , When The Drummers Were Women.

Thanks. I always liked the idea of linking music and magic in games, unfortunately my own game projects never got anywhere. But at least the idea made me make these
