Hey everyone, here's a box cover Illustration I worked on for the TIE Reaper Expansion Pack
I had a lot of fun painting this last summer and illustrated 6 cards (including this one) for the expansion pack. I hope you y'all like it!There's a link at the bottom to my Instagram. If you want to check the sketches I submitted for this illustration, click on that link ;D It'll give you an idea of what my sketches look like before being approved. Maybe some of you are looking to work as a sci-fi and fantasy illustrator and want a clearer idea on the level of detail to submit for sketches, so hopefully those posts will help you. I remember when I first started freelancing on Star Wars merchandise, I had no reference to compare against when submitting my first ever sketches. I was nervous as hell! My Art Director at the time got back in touch and said they terrified her haha That's how shit awful they were! Through trial and error I've found that having a simple, but somewhat accurate, line art and using that line art as a guide to block-in simple values and colours work best for me.

I feel like the Empire's TIE Striker became the groundwork for the Upsilon-class Shuttle and the TIE Silencer. Mostly due to the shaping of the ship's hull and cockpit.

Aye, the definitely a design language there where future designs have been influenced by past designs. It's pretty cool they keep up with that level of detail.

When they offered me the job, I had mistaken the Striker for the Reaper and when I got the specs through, I was like, Oh, so this isn't the "Reaper" I was looking for haha
