For anyone that's interested here is a little animation showing some of my steps when painting up this pieceI hope this works

Thank you. I kinda knew what I was looking for after I read the brief & took the time to think things over. It's always best to keep things simple in the beginning, particularly with thumbnail doodles. The opening image is basically a triangular shape dude surrounded by other basic shapes. The thumbnail was roughly 1"x1" & then resized in photoshop.

So is it easier to make a messy sketch and run with it rather than trying to perfect it the first time?

I only ran with this thumbnail sketch after the other 9 didn't work for me. Don't start with being perfect. Look for ideas and explore your options instead.
