oh wow... i love the colors and how they fall together in place.
the whole scene with the beautiful feminin figures in the background,
and homeless bum infront of them...
really contrays inself...
in maybe somewhat of a way seen as american beauty to the decay of society...
love it!

Wow... what a juxtaposition... the contrast is amazing, and his expression is so painful. Great shot.

A perfect portrayal of modern society:
The background noise that feeds our perpetual need for crap to fill the void in our souls put there by the corporations, media channels and governments in order to control us and turn us into mindless consumers
and
What society has come to think of trash... Human waste... Useless to society, unnecessary in the great machine of modern life. Seems to me the humanity and essence of what we used to be is only present in the beggar, and completely absent in the facelift society has forced upon itself...
Truly amazing capture my friend!

lol you're my hundredth comment.... That's good. I live in a small town, but whenever I go anywhere with people on the streets the money comes pouring out. I hate the thought of people being helpless.

This picture made me very sad. Seeing that man with those stupid trivial ads behind him is just crushing. Some might walk by and look at those ads and go "Wow that's what I really want for christmas!" but this man, no. This man probably doesn't even see the ads, and all he wants for Christmas is a warm bed and a full tummy.

hate the gloat of all of it, what would these billboards mean to him? your picture is prefect, ive been there, lucky not for long, and i just count my blessings.. and wish i could stop the machine so others can catch up, they'd run so hard without even giving thought for breath.

thanks so much for your comments. Were you really homeless? I know some look for the next thing to buy while others think about what they're gonna eat next...it's a sad world.

Man, the guy's expression is a stark contrast to the vibes coming from that iPod wallpaper. Depressing to look at... But it's awesome how you've brought out this feeling from this picture. +fav

I love how it shows that, while some people are extremly materialistic, others just dont have anything to eat. A great contrast.

San Francisco is so ipod central. I've always wanted to photograph the ipod overload, but I would never have thought of taking a picture like this. The idea behind the picture is very different from what I wanted to do though. And I love contradiction! lol
Awesome pic.

Oh my gosh...I almost cried when I saw this, and I even agree with someone earlier when they said they've seen a lot of homeless people shots. Too bad the writing isn't bigger. I doubt this would change the picture much, but I'm a stickler against cutting off the composition at the ankles.

thanks so much..i can't believe people would be affected emotionaly by this...it makes me happy, well, because it's my pic but also because i see that there is still hope for humanity (we are not all totally emotionless)...thank you
you know i agree with you but it didn't have the same effect...i wanted him to look like he's part of the poster but and the poster taking up all of the background...i had to chose what was more important and it really didn't have the same punch.

Don't you love what capitalism has done to society? I don't usually comment on very much, but I thought I'd take a minute to tell you how much I love this. Amazing work.

very moving. to me it seems alittle negative, don't ask me why.
i love the contrast between the happy ads and the rather desperate man. it makes you think.

that's exactly what I intended...negative is not a bad thing...if a positive result come out of it.

Powerful image. Very nicely done...I find a lot of "homeless portraits" seem...almost as if they are exploiting a life-worn face. This is the exact opposite, and shows us how our perception of the world is so clouded with our own greedy dispositions, we tend to lose sight of the folks who are left behind.
I wish this man a better life.

Very touching photo, I love the irony and bitterness displayed here. We're all worried about getting the latest technology, while there are others who are worried about their next meal.
