You did a good job capturing an old classic, trope or cliche. I can't decide which one it is, but you added some of your noir lighting to this and that just make my imagination race. The dark end makes me think of going down the rabbit hole metaphorically or something as equally difficult or dark. The light side looks safer, but I don't know what that means noir wise, maybe the false safety that comes from being about to be jumped. I think I just describe a plot point XP
