What is your process?
I really enjoy the transfer quality and bizarre imagery!

the process is very simple and sort of automatic so I don't pretend to hold much claim of authorship over the picture.
I selected the picture of the russian man from a book i bought of war photos-I don't remember where the tropical image came from, and then the picture in the center is from a book on rembrandt I had cut up.
I first photocopied a picture of the russian man with the rembrandt image glued to his chest-put him back into the printer, then printed the tropical image over him. I suppose it's a very simple type of collage

It's a very simple type of printmaking, when you think about it, and it's awesome! I love the final result. I think the b&w photocopy with the color print on top make a really great surface. Thanks for describing it!

I've seen pictures of it before, but I did not know its name. I like it a lot, seen a number of old sci-fi paperbacks with similar covers. why do you ask?

This reminds me of it in some ways, it employs some similar textures.

your collages are amazing.
you combine different elements with eachother very skillfully.
i like the mystic quality of your pictures, they look very planned and like you try to convey a very specific message through a specific picture, even though perhaps you just do that out of "random" intuition and trying around, it sure doesn't look random.

thank you again, it is very nice of you to take the time to comment-I'm curious by what you mean about a mystic quality, not that I'm trying to disagree but more that I'm interested in what you think of them.
whenever I try to force some meaning or group of images it rarely comes out as good-I often start with some image that strikes me and select the ones to accompany based on what feels good or what is lying around.

Well, what i mean is something like that you put fragments with a very strong symbolical charge together into a composition of your own, as such creating the impression, that all that is supposed to "mean something".
as you often use for example mythological figures, gods and animals and all these things traditionally are known to hold great symbolical significance to followers of certain religions, beliefs or philosophies or members of certain cultures...it is as if you are putting these symbols together to form your own story or thoughts.
as what exactly you mean with that and even what exactly certain symbols actually mean, might not even be known by yourself, i guess that goes as mystic or mysterious.
the pictures are very inviting to a diversity of interpretations anyway.
cheers.

the bit about 'forming thoughts' with them and is very accurate, and words it better than I probably would have. sometimes i find I am trying to find out what the particular picture means to me, as I often hold onto some of the components in their cut out form for a while if they catch my eye.
by working with them it feels like I either figure out, on some level what they mean, or I use them for what they are "meant" to be used for at least in my own personal context
I'm not usually so verbose or thoughtful about my collages, but I'd taken a small break and you've caught me at a time when I was thinking about them, it is nice to reflect on all the paper cut outs and things stewing in my online gallery/offline folders

i used to just do things out of myself, believing however i would put a line or which ever color would come to my mind would be right way to go.
it was always the most important to me to be authentic and more than even true to myself, "true to the picture".
however i have been doing a lot of thinking lately, inspired by books i am reading and changes that have occurred in my life, and even though i still believe this "doing things just out of oneself" is very important, i now want to try a bit of a different approach, thinking more about what i actually want and planning specifically.
this is mainly why i started this deviant account, because i actually have another one ( ~Februar ), but i wanted to create this new account to be extra reserved for more "serious", honest and less "random" stuff...
lets see how it goes

good luck in that. this is my second account as well. I generally think that some balance between spontaneity and preparedness is best, though I rarely find it. what books are you reading, if you don't mind me asking?

one that i finished reading recently is "masse und macht" (crowds and power) by elias canetti, at the moment i am reading at the moment "the secret teachings of all ages" by manly p hall, also i finished "istanbul" by orhan pamuk and in between all that i am always again reading parts of a book by an austrian priest whom they call the "herb-priest weidinger", because he was, you could say, the authority on (serious) herbal medicine in austria.
another book i started reading but which is less easygoing for me, because of being in spanish is "psicomagia" by alejandro jodorowsky.
all this books are very different from eachother, yet all of them i think have a very motivating and inspiring character, which makes you want to really take controll over your life, instead of just falling into some kind of melancholic coma.
at least the books have a positive influence on me, after all i have heard people say how depressing they found Sartre, and i for one found his books always super-motivating.

I've been curious about that book "psicomagia", but sadly I can't speak/read spanish. What is it like? I think I have the manly p hall book as well but have never read it. I've been reading along similar lines I think: "Symbols of Transformation" by Jung, Wilhelm Stekel, Diary of Nijinsky...psychology and religion in general. I've only read Sartre in his relation to Bataille, where he was more or less serving as a critic

well, it is very interesting, i really like the concept of psicomagia, but i have only read a quarter of the book so far i think.
in youtube they have some really interesting long interview/docu on jodorowsky in which he explains psicomagia a bit and even tries to help to girls with that "technique"...hm, but i just checked, it has no subtitles...the only thing there is with subtitles is this: [link]
as to hall's book: i very much recommend it, because it is written very well explained and understandable and i like also his humbleness, with which he writes.
sartre was one of my favorite writers for long time, i read a lot of his books.
i never read jung, but coincidentally we (my husband and me) have been reading a lot about him lately, so i guess when we are through with hall, we might try to get this book you said.
