nice idea but not much as far as dynamic light or color or contrast
id boost all of them also the far away shot from above doesnt provide the most intersting angle

uhm.. thats not really manipulation.. its just simple darkroom stuff that every pro and most amateuar photographers out there do and did in the past

If I had a penny for every time I've heard that..
No, I mean I don't bother manipulating (altering) my pieces in any way simply because it causes me anxiety. I get to thinking, maybe it was better with a bit less saturation or a bit more contrast... it bothers me.

You're right about the angle though. Eye-level would have been better.

I have to say, the title fits the story and creates it, describes the lighting, gives power to the entire picture. Very well done, and thank you for showing us all how truly important a good title is at times.

...and yet, she blossoms. I like the symbolic edge you put into this piece, and the vivid colours, especially the pink, is breathtaking. However, in this case, I would prefer maybe a sepia tone... but the vibrancy definently is an asset.
