I must honestly say I am not a fan of most of your space pieces, but this is definately a great piece of art
I love your use of light here, the soft light sources, how they interact with the nebulaes, the engines...the space station is absolutely uniqe, a very original concept you have there I think.
my only crit is that the asteroids look too blurry, you should make them more outstanding I think.
anyways, superb!

The brink of the unknown & also something thats up the top as quite fantastically & most definitely amazing, heh, sorry for the flattering *again*, but as ive said, you seem to be at a state where your images basically seem perfect, there may be a few things nitpickable, but all in all you make for some of the most talented Sci fi material to date!
In fact, the great thing is that your images are done so well, that when immersing yourself in them there can be so many meaning & feelings, the photorealism plus mix of fantasy truly gives a whole new realm to emotion, as usual a master piece, or so i would say.
Before i start to interpret what you bring before me, ill just nitpick something just to keep a balance from flattery However this technical nitpick is not that much of a big deal in the outcome of the image, its just an extra thing the imagee could *possibly* look better without/fixed,
what am i talking about? Well the blue sun in the nebulae is slightly overbrighted, like an overlayed/colour dodged/dodge tooled/linear dodged flare, compared to the pink sun, it seems more harsh thus causing an uneasy disbalance, not truly a big deal even if i make it sound like it is, just a certain thing i think could look a little nicer displayed differently.
The only other quarral i have is nothing major either, its something to the right of the image, the major purple bit of nebulae right of the space station type thing, i find that bit of purple nebulae seems to end rather abruptly at the lower part of it, causing a sort of partially unfinished feel, again its nothing major unless you focus on it, more of just an excess nitpick that catches my eye at first glance, no need to freat as i truly to love the image, sometimes things strangely stick out to my eyes though that i feel i have to explain, just so you dont take this the wrong way!
Now ive got that off my chest i can truly immerse myself, if i had to say what catches my eye as stunning at first glance, it would have to be the planetary rings with the detailed & painted rocks, & the nebulae that has a mix of stars in the backdrop, with stars it sort of adds a magical touch, or a unique contrast to the colours, something i find quite appealing. Of course one cannot deny that at first glance the nebuale is also especially eye catching.
The design of the ships & space station are clearly something else in terms of originality, that is, they are truly unique. The space station has an excellent sense of perspective (The lunging angled 'arms' seemingly extended into space) & the sheer way its affected by light makes it very much so believable, yes, thats another point, the way everything is affected by light adds to the experience, like ive already said before many times, lighting can add so much to a picture that it would be foolish to exclude it, i just love the vibrant refraction the planet gives off from the warm lighting of the suns embedded within the nebulae, i do indeed applaud your use of lighting.
The planet rings, what about them? Well, something i've rarely seen besides from you, is your large, & well detailed chunks, that is, not just small chunks, but large detailed & drawn chunks aswell, you give a sense of depth/perspective (as the inner rings of the planet the chunks seemingly become very small to the eye) & this is what really gives it winning edge, alot of people just make them all the same size (for instance using noise filter or rendered asteroids) & do not bother with details such as this, & this is why i love your unique rings so much, besides from the fact that they are done so well!
The thing i was saying about the nebulae, that is, being so nice & all Hehe, yep, just another awesome point, warm crisp colours & depth, it truly feels like a nebulae in which sun is piercing through the clouds, a star piercing through the nebulae, the soft & warm colours give the feeling that the sun is being reflected off perhaps crystalline source, like ice crystals in clouds, in this case perhaps ice crystals in nebulae causing quite a twinkle.
Backto describing the nebulae, indeed, i say indeed again, your use of dark matter (as seen right of image), & the sprarser clouds that allow starts to be visible, really give a sense of being inside a nebulae, or swirling gases taking place, affecting time & space, or perhaps just view
they seemingly drift around spawning colour & motion, a pleasing experience i am assured.
The detail of the planet - Excellent. Full stop?! The small planet has a sort of 3 dimensional feel, one of my favourite aspects of planets is when people capture a sense of full spherical dimensions with special shadowing & lighting, which is what you did spot on with the small planet, which i give you a clap for heh. The large planet, as i said before, beautiful sun like reflection of light. The swirls & brushing on this planet build up a sense of depth, such as, a sense of a highly detailed gas planet, ever so lively & colourful, great stuff.
The ships! Very good, love the shapign & design, would be great fun to fly one of those things i bet! I dont know why, but i like the smaller ones more, because they seem to leave a nifty blue cold yet warm glow & give a sense of the immensity & scale of the image as a whole, plus the trails blend in motion with the excellent nebulae, i like, i like very much.
To me this image makes me think of new life, like a nebulae spawning new life & colour into the ever expanding & infinite universe, Or like a see, turbulant & rough, but life giving, or calm & seemingly dangerous, but ever so protective of its inhabitants, it definitely captures a sense of warmth, chaotic but smooth, full of motion but ever so serene, these are the immediate thoughts that come to mind when i view this image, feelings of clarity & protection, life & life being taken away, ever so large that anything could live within, a place where suns placidly give off heat & warmth & bring life in an ever so beautiful way.
Truly, amazing experience, sorry if i sounded like i was flattering you anywhere throughout my comment, but i wholly depthed my comment to the way i see it, design & emotion, & at its best, truly.

Awesome usage of details without losing the simplification of overall artwork! Wow! Wonderful concept and composition! I absolutely love how the clouds reflects the lights and how the particles fades in/out. It really makes me feel like I'm lost in that space somewhere in the future! Only if that really exist... This is just incredible...has to be one the most awesome space scenes I have seen! Usually the ships in such a scene rarely merit much attention from me...but in this case I must definately make an exception!! That ship reminds me of something Leonardo Da Vinci might have created if he had thought of it!! Wonderful...and now adorning my very happy desktop!

I'm understandably miffed. I wrote a lengthy comment then my system decided "HAHAHA ALYN YOU ARE TEH SUX0RRZZ!!!11meow" and imploded. So i'll gonna essay all over again.
First thing, you made me cry. That's not fair
Now being serious. This is killer. All the more so because it's space art and something i have a passion for. Makes it easier for me to comment too. So you get the stamp of "weeee sex art" pretty much instantly.
Planet first. Now did you paint it wholly? because the spherical shape of it is top-notch, and i can understand how difficult it would be to get that effect down right. The clouds effect you've given it has a great almost "texture" effect to it, and the colours appear well chosen, lighting is top notch, the soft reflection from the nebula works well for me . As for the rings, they're superb, especially how the particles fade out of focus gradually. All correctly lit and their size looks pretty good too. Tribute to the detail present in all your art.
Starfields. Now considering the nature of this image it's well done. You'd have to get them to be present, but entirely unobtrusive, moreover as a compliment to the general composition, and I'd say that you've accomplished this with flare. A good range of sizes and even colours, and some nice clustering for added variation too.
Now for the ships and satellites, i'll start with the satellite, since it's pretty much at the center of the action. Now I'm sure you know of those toys that infants have hanging above their cots that either make some chirpy noises or spin round with funny lights etc.... well that main satellite reminds me of one, and unintentional or not, it does contribute a nice sentiment. The other relation i had in mind was.... well.... you know those old fashioned biplanes with the stacked wings? cross that with a more modern aircraft then metamorphose it into a satellite.... i think you'd get something similar to this. I like it when i can relate art that's not something you see everyday to something i can see everyday... it makes it more viewer friendly. In any case, it's a gorgeous centerpiece from the lighting to the detail in shading of the wings. If the greeks... archimedes or some other genius mind of that time had created a satellite, they could well have created this.... that said it also reminds me of da vinci's work style, and that's a credit to you.
The crafts that are flying round are definitely complimentary to overall composition. Good shape to them, and the foremost exhibits some nice metallic shading to it. Good stuff there.
Now the nebula. Holy shit. I profanitise, i'm sorry. Expletives notwithstanding, this is easily my most favourite part of the piece simply because nebulae are so difficult to create and i know that first hand. The nebula makes the perspective (although the planetary rings help a little admittedly), but without that wonderful drifting out effect that you've created as you peer towards the lower half of the image, this would appear a lot more stale. Swirls are very well done, brushing is outstanding... i really can't emphasise how much i envy that one part of the picture, especially the lighting towards the core, which is quite simply tantalising. But blah, lost words there.
Personally, i'd be interested in finding out how you see this. What music style would you accompany it with? For it's stunning serene style nature, it does seem as though it has a mode of action to it, which is why i ask... what intentions did you have when you created it?
As for little criticisms (surprising how i can find any in this, and in honesty they are pretty much dwarfed by the sheer sexiness of the image). The first would be that the top left flare inside that nebula area just seems a little oversaturated, like when abstract artists overwork the dodge tool in their brushing, although i doubt you used the dodge tool, it just seems a little too saturated. the similar flare to the right at the very core of the purple lit nebula section is pretty much perfect as far as i can say though.
Secondly, and this is a tiny one, the twin trails coming off the closest space-craft seem a little flat against the canvas. I'm not wholly sure why, but , a little more thickness to where they begin may cure, but again i'm not sure, and it's not exactly like it's a huge red blob in the middle of the image saying "i'm an error" or anything
.
Third (and most likely finally) is something i'm unsure about pointing out, because i doubt i'm right on this one, but just something that seemed to catch my eye for a second. Again at the top left part fo the nebula and the flare, the spread of the light, especially towards the right of it makes it seem fairly flat view but the swirling nebula effect round it would mean that the light would be more directed towards the left. again, i think it's attributed to the saturation issue, but .
In any case, these are but minor nigglings in what is otherwise an orgasmic piece of art, right down to presentation and typography, and it should not be put down because of these little things. A most fantastic way to use a canvas indeed.
If only art was edible, this would be a delicatessen.
